Aaaaagggghhhh!!!
4 weeks out yesterday from my first figure contest and I'm stressing out!
I'm kinda feeling depressed and can't pinpoint why.
I'm fed up that my lats and hams aren't as developed as I would like, worried about whether I will be lean enough, frustrated with my posing practices; they are sooooo inconsistent, sometimes I nail everything and other days they suck... such as today, do you think I could nail a back pose even once, darn shoulder blades wanted the limelight everytime.
Days like this I wonder WHY the heck I am putting myself through this and feel like quitting... but I really don't want to do that.
Anyone else go through these negative, self-doubt phases?
Just felt the need to vent a little.

Every once in a while I go through an emotional downside about my lifting- and you have to stick it out through it-

I think that every time I don't go to the gym or don't focus on my workout- that is a step back, rather than the step foward i'm in the position to take

I think to myself- I have a secret that all these other chumps in the gym don't know about- I know how to change my body- I know the exercise components, and the nutritional components and I'm ready to take it to the next level. I'll look OBJECTIVELY in the mirror and notice the changes I've made from pics I have of myself from before-

I grab a towel, and go to the gym ready to put my body through hell knowing that most others wouldn't dream of intentionaly doing this; and that's why I'm going to get where I want to be

Thanks Hanz, I'm still putting my body through hell on a daily basis! lol No slip ups, just insecurities in over abundance!!!
I have changed so much since 16 weeks out for the better... it's almost like my brain hasn't caught up with the positive changes my body has made yet!
Guess I'll keep plugging away and hope I can pull it altogether for the contest :)

Brit...4 weeks is still alot of time for your body to change even more. Try not to stress out over things. They will fall in place. If you have someone doing your diet and preping you for the show, let them stress it for you. Your job is too look pretty and prance across that stage full of confidence.

Your expererincing something we all do when getting ready for a show. Keep plugging away!!

I've got my first comp in 5 weeks Britchick and I'm freaking out too! :) It's normal, especially for the first comp. Don't back out, I promise you you'll be so glad you followed through regardless of how you feel you look when it's over! And then you'll have so much more confidence for your next Comp! :)

BTW, what are you worried about? Your pics look AWESOME and you still have 4 weeks! Just keep practicing that posing! :)

Thanks rock... btw what comp are you competing in?

Brit...when you feel the need to stress out...do it here! We'll knock some sense back in. ;)

Awesome... most of my non-training friends attitude when I feel this way is 'just quit'.... grrr, NOT what I need to hear! lol

I'm competing in Musclemania in Bowie, MD. It's sponsored by DC Bodybuilding. I know what you mean by your friends saying why don't you quit! That's how most people around me are too.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Is this your first competition? If so, don't stress out about it. Like JLB said, let your "coach" do all the stressing for you.

Hold your head high and stay strong. :thumb:

4 wks out and things will change for the better , but ya gotta stay focused at your goal. with me the mirror wasnt changing 3 wks ago, and i just hung in there and then one day its like WOW, what the heck happened. if its your first one you'll be this way, but dont back out, please..its normal, but the end result is that you stuck it out and stayed dedicated to a goal, thats what i love about this sport, the dedication. cause if you can do this for weeks on end, you can conquer anything life hands you!!!!!

I just saw your 4 weeks out pic. You have nothing to worry about you look great! Just keep workin.

Every competitor goes through this somewhere along the path to competition. It sucks because you see people around you enjoying food and doing stuff when you know you have to go to the gym and train. family and friends seem to get put on a back-burner because you have to dedicate yourself to preparation for the show. Everytime you sit down to eat, you gag because your sick of eating the same stuff for weeks upon weeks.

Why put yourself through this? Because, and it is hard to explain, but if you have ever competed in any sport, you will know what I mean.

Once you get up on stage and do your thing, and you hear the crowd go crazy and scream and cheer, at that very moment you realize that all of that commotion is about YOU. There is no other feeling like it in the world. And after the show, having multitudes of strangers, people who would otherwise not give you the time of day, come up to you and say how good you look, ask to have their picture taken with you and just the "you look awesome" comments make this worth it all.

and, after the show and the thrill of competing is over, when you go back to normal life (for 2 weeks before you start all over again), the other 99% of the population that sees you in public stare at you in awe, ask you outlandish questions and obscene proposals, you know then and there all the hard work was worth it.

hang in there. This is the most difficult thing you will probably do. Reason is that this is strictly voluntary. No one is making you do this. However, if you do hang in there, you know that you have to will and determination to do any damm thing you want to in your life.

It's worth it. Don't quit now.

Peace

Brit....How did you do????? Update?

I am in the negative phase my self. I have 10 days to go, and not sure if I will make it mentally. I have come this far and I know I need to keep going, but there are time when I just wan to say F*@! it. Hang in there. It will be worth it in the end. (so I am told)
:D

Does anyone know of an effictive way to keep your suit out of your ass while on stage?

Bikini Bite by Protan :D

If you can't get it ordered in time, most of the girls will let you use their's. bodybuilding.com has it or try your local nutrition store to see if they may carry it.

Thank you so much. That is one big thing I am stressing about. My suit was cut a little small.

You'll still change in the few days you have left. Most likely won't be that small by then.;) But Bikini Bite is good to have on hand just in case.

It's safe for your suit. Its a roll on goo stuff. Kinda like a glue.

But careful peeling it off, it sticks to your ass good. :funny:

I almost put that here. LOL Nothing worse than glued butt cheeks!
