I know it depends a lot on the lifter and on various factors, but generally speaking, if you can overhead press 150x12, then should you expect to be able to overhead press 175x4-5 reps?
That's a real ambiguous question. I would guess yes, but that is completely based on my own experience with no real proof. I suggest going into the gym and trying it? What is the context of your question, that might help it get answered better.

Thank you for your reply, I know it's impossible to predict without actually doing it. I was wondering because a few months ago, I overhead pressed 175x4 or 5 reps, can't remember, but then had to take a break from lifting for several reasons, and after I came back I was weaker but now have been working my way back up in strength, and the past 2 weeks I have been doing higher reps, and got 150x12 today, so thought maybe I was possibly at my old strength level again?
Don't worry about how much you can press...worry about form...eventually all the numbers go up!!! 150lbs w/o use your body (cheating) beat half way 200lbs with the whole body...
hey i would not go heavy on military press anyways if your goal is just to gain muscle, i would concentrate on form especially on the military press, ..going heavy on this exercise is asking for trouble.
my injury cost me to stop pressing for a year....now after many years that i healed, i bench press very heavy but go very easy and slow on the military press with very good form and believe me i am bigger than before.
