Okay, my first question is about instant oats. When I'm reading the nutrition facts label, I can't figure out if they mean that there's 27grams of carbs in dry instant oats or cooked? I'm pretty certain that it's 27grams per 1/2 cup of dry oats, but I just want to be reassured. They don't specify it on the label.

My second question is a little bit more complicated. When is the best time to consume simple carbs (aka fruit)? I'm on a cut program and the author says that about 80 percent of my carbs should come from complex starchy and fibrous sources, and about 20 percent should come from fruit. However, he doesn't specify the best time to consume simple carbs for fat loss.

I'm assuming that because the simple carbs are burned up very quickly the best time to eat fruit would be after a workout to quickly replentish the glycogen stores? Am I right?

Also, for optimal results, must the type of fruit be low on the GI index?

Mucho gracias...

Dry.

I wouldn't really consider fruit a simple carb. I guess it all depends on which fruits you are consuming. Fruit for the most part can be consumed any point during the day. Just make sure, you account for the Calories.

Most fruit is predominately fructose as the sugar source which is ideal for replenishing liver glycogen.

Ideal fruits... Berries, Apples, Pear, Grapefruit.
