First let me say that I have only been back at this for a month or so, maybe 6 weeks at best. While I was laid up from injury i put somewhere close to 40lbs on the old gut.

I hve been doing side crucnhes, leg raises, and traditional crunches along with a solid weight training program and cardio. All of the side and lower movements are working well, but when I do crunches my stomcach sticks out further. The goal here is to make it go away, and it seams with every ab day it sticks out further.

Am I just losing it or does this make sense to anybody. I am going to take progress pictures tommorrow and could post them if it would help you all to make a judgement call here.

If somebody has heard of this what other methods are there to train the uper abs and rid of the gut.:yell:

You might be caught between developing the ab muscles but not losing the fat as fast.

Concentrate on the diet/nutrition. It'll all come together.

Here's a nice little list for you :

1. Diet [ lower your daily intake of calories - increase protien intake ]
2. Cardio [ at last 30 minutes daily ]
3. Weight train
4. Thermolgenics [ hydroxycut, stackers, etc. ]

Another thing is - there is no way to directly loose fat from one body part. When you burn fat, its systematicly - throughout your entire body, so just stick with it and you'll get cut. ;)

Goodluck!

I have been doing all of your list there plouffe, except for #4.

I try to stray away from the fat burners, asI had some pretty bad experiences with them in the past. I know there are Ephedra free forms now, but I am still leary.

It took 3 years to build this gut, I can't expect to lose it over night afterall. Right??

That's very true, the main thing is man don't give up - and don't cheat yourself.

goodluck man

dude... it's all about diet... you don't need 30 mins cardio a day... haha... 30 mins cardio 3 times a week is plenty... focus more on diet... less sugar, less bread, more lean meats... you know lower glycemic type foods except for right after a workout ....

What is ideal post workout food then?? I have been jamming on chicken breasts coked up on my Forman. God I love that thing!!

I work out 4days a week, and do at least 20 minutes of cardio each time. I rotate between stationary bike and the treadmil.

I have stopped drinking all sodas and juices for the most part. I have also stoped eating most red meats and breads.

sounds like you've got fat on your stomach, and after working out your abdominal muscles are getting a workout (which is a good thing) and muscles that have been worked well get bigger and appear fuller... meaning, you're abs are worked, therefore they are making your fat stick out more... sounds like you're doing fine... just keep it up...

What's wrong with eating red meat? Im puzzled. I eat red meat twice a week. Is this a bad thing. I usually eat a home made burger steak with no cheese or bread and a steak dinner once a week.

red meat is PERFECTLY fine... in fact, it's great, cuz you get some fat but not too much, also, red meat helps your body produce more testosterone then chicken, turkey and fish...

BUT... when you're talking about cutting fat out of your diet... red meat tends to be the fattiest... and if you're really focused on cutting everywhere possible, cutting red meat can help...

I also eat home made burger steak with no cheese or bread and steak probably once every week or two... it's good to have variety in your diet =)

That is exactly right, it is ok to eat red meat. Hell I ove a good steak just like th next guy, trust me I have the fat to show for it.

For my particular situation though, I am trying to eat the cleanest diet I can. Which means that un-neccasary fats must be removed from my diet.

I prefer redmeat while bulking.. and chicken / fish when I am trying to get cut. Helps me out..
