I'm led to believe that the abs are quick to recover. Does this mean that it would be okay for me to work them twice a week? Keep in mind that I'm very slow when it comes to recovery.

I train them 3 times a week -

3 x crunches
3 x leg raises
3 x side bends ........each time !

I train abs 2-3 times a week.
I know some people who don't train abs at all because in reality your abs are always being trained when you workout because you are always trying to keep them tight to balance your upper body. (think military press, squats, barbell curls etc.)

Abs, unless overtrained, can typically be done every other day. The question is WHY?

Personally, I never train abs, unless I am training for a show. When I get my BF low, I can always see my abs, they are constantly being trained with the heavy weights that I use.

Unless you are very low BF, I see little reason to train abs. If you are in need of functional ab strength, then training them heavy once per week is plenty.

Exactly.
