Unless you are a genetic god you must be joking. Your abs are just like every other muscle, you need to work them for functionality. I am pretty sure you are refering to visible abs. This is correct, if you want visible abs training is not the place to focus your time on its dieting you should be worrying about.
If you want a solid core treat them like all other muscles, add weight and train em hard. If you want "pretty" abs you need to concentrate on lowering your BF%. Pretty abs in the real word serve nothing more then looking pretty, a solid strong core helps to prevent injuries and aids in lifts such as squats and deadlifts. Not that im bashing a visible 6 pack, shoot I'll be attempting them after this bulk, but right now I'm focusing on a strong core. And to do so you need to work them!

Thats why i asked the guys goals (dms2425), if he only wants to have a slim toned phisique then train abs and diet all you want, if on the other hand he wants to be a big guy with rippling abs then he will HAVE to focus on getting big first using compund exercises and high protien and calorie intake.Uzi9 said:In my experience ab training alone wont make good abs.QUOTE]

What I was stating was that if you want better (in the sence of bigger and ripped abs) abs then if you was to get bigger overall then cut down, as your abs would grow as they assist most exercises. If you was to gain more overall mass and then lose the body fat you will have good abs.
