Adopt a pet

I am the only one that I know of that actually owns the cat in their avatar meow.

Adopt a pet for the weekend. Change you avatar.

Check the sigmeow.

I prefer dogs and both of mine are adopted.

Cute dogs, but these cats would eat that little one for breakfast!

Like hell! She beat up an irish setter before

The cat in my avatar, Jack, has beat the dogshit out of every dog that ever got close to him. Jack sent a pitbull running back to the neighbors yard in under 3 seconds with a quick 1,2 combination across the nose.
Jack is not to be fucked with meow.

We have a great swarm technique. We have taken down doberman's with ease.

Ginger, the shephard/pit mix, she has a mean streak. She hates all other dogs. She would never hurt a person, ever, but a dog comes within any close proximity she bites. I've been working with her to calm down but as a shelter dog, you don't know what kind of life she had before hand :( She was definately traumatized and beat up by other dogs I think. So now she doesn't give any dog a chance. I've had to pay for stitches to the other dogs she's bitten on more than one occassion. :twitch:

That picture of her is the day I picked her up at the shelter. She was so scared. She's so precious though.

Just last week there was a local story about a dog who was found in the dump. Someone had tied his legs together and then chucked him in the garbage. It's sick how cruel some people can be. How could anyone do that to their dog!

I like dogs also but they require too much work/attention for me.

It's makes me cry seeing and hearing about these things. I volunteered for the humane society a for a few years and you can't believe the condition that some of these dogs and cats were in. It sickens me that people do this. We domesticated these animals and when we purchase or adopt them, their lives are in our hands. We vow to care for them and the way many people treat their pets is disgusting. They should be tortured and killed as far as I'm concerned.

That was cool of you to adopt from a shelter. There are a lot of animals that need good homes.

I also got Jack and Luna from the shelter. The white cat is Luna. She has one blue eye and one yellow eye. She was born deaf and nobody wanted her because she had the most ear wrenching meow. She had never heard another cat meow I guess. I adopted her the day before they were going to put her to sleep as a kitten.
I later got Jack to keep Luna company while I was at school and work. Jack was fearless from the first day I got him at the shelter. I picked him because he desperately wanted my attention. He wasn't the best looking cat, but he had personality.

mrofl, kiki power!

I also adopted a cat when she was about 3 years old (i was 8 at the time) and i remember seeing how helpless and scared she was. Nobody wanted her so my mother got her for my birthday and i remember how bloody my hands were after i tried holding on to her to get her in the cage .. lol. Even today (she's 15 now) she still refuses to get into the cage whenever i have to take her to the vet. I believe she may have had some bad experiences with the owners who gave her up. Even though she is just a cat, she's the best thing that ever happened to me. She eats everything i feed her such as cheese, steak bits, donuts, and so forth (reason why she's fat). She always knows when i come home and if i'm going away for a while, she just knows. It's hard to explain but i can't imagine what it's going to be like when she finally passes away because she's getting old.

Some pics below

That cat looks like it can kick ass when needed

My cat? If so, you're right because one of my friend's cat has like 9 babies so he gave one to use for free but the kitten lasted like a week because my cat wouldn't let him alone and almost tried to kill him one night. I had to seperate them and watch them carefully so we had to give him away to my aunt and i'm glad i did cus the cat turned out to be an annoying psycho.

Friends and family have also brought in dogs whenever we had cookouts and stuff and my cat was never fond of them. She would always hiss at them and try to claw them and the dogs ran away from her .. ha.

Like Jodi said about her dog, my cat loves people but hates other animals.

Why adopt 'a' pet when you can adopt 6?!

I agree, and it's nice to see you get your cats from a shelter as well. They need good homes. All my dogs have come from shelters. Ginger was the first one that I ever adopted that was an adult. She's been a challenge and trying at times but she is worth it. I've never purchased a dog. My family has always got our dogs from a shelter.

My little Mochy I picked up as a 4 week old puppy. I bottle fed her for 3 weeks when I got her. I was lucky I was a volunteer there when she came in because puppies don't last long, especially small ones. She's now 11 years old next month and she is as much of a sweetheart as the day I got her :heartpump

I swear shelter pets are the best. It's like they know that you gave them a 2nd chance at life. They are the greatest and most of time the best tempermant. I'll never get my dogs anywhere else.

BTW: Your cats are beautiful. I'm allergic to cats which is why I've always had dogs.
