Long story short, I got into a fist fight last night (for good reason) and ended up messing up my wrist really badly on this guys head/face. It is swelled up, and it hurts to hold a remote. I have been lifting steadilly 4 times a week since January first.

I have my program that I have been following (PRRS) and I have been improving each week and I absolutely am addicted to the gym. I am going to be unable to use my wrist for at least 1-3 weeks for heavy lifting... what should I do? should I wear a wrist brace, shuold I only do one arm or one sides workouts, and then when my wrist heals in a few moves do the same for my right side?

Im really dissapointed that my training, that has been going steadilly up and up, while my body was looking better and better, has been halted temporarily by a stupid injury. Have any of you injured your wrist/hand before and if so, how did you treat it in terms of weight lifting?

Dont use it all in the gym.

Ice it a LOT, get some anti-inflammatories, and try not to make it worse.

If the swelling or pain doesnt improve in a few days go and see a doctor, you might have broken it or something.

rest
ice
compress
elevate

may want to look into massage...you don't want them to touch the wrist right now while it is all jacked up, but lymphatic drainage would help to reduce the swelling and get fluid flowing out.

Thanks for the tips guys... im gonna keep icing it, and stay out of the gym this week, save for cardio. I dont wanna mess anything up permanently... I guess Ill still do abs, calves and legs though.
