Alternate Ending for I Am Legend

Much better. When I first saw the movie and that one walks in and all the other ones stop what they're doing i knew that he was there for her.

the rest of the ending, with them driving off into the sunset, still sucks balls though. it's like an abrupt halt to a story that's only halfway finished.

I liked this ending better. Not because it's a "happy" ending, but it adds dimension to an otherwise cardboard monster.

A truly happy ending would have the superfluous woman and kid die.

I hated the ending i saw in the movies.

They played up on the whole "human" aspect of the monsters throughout the entire film, and the fact that the ringleader cared about this girl Neville captured, and he was getting revenge and all that.

Then at the end they totally fucked it up and didnt capitalise on that emotion that had been building up.

This ending is perfect for the film and its stupid they didnt use it. I really enjoyed the film as a whole, but if theyd have released it with this ending it'd be probably my favourite of recent releases.

With the ending they released however, its waay lower down.

I hope they release it on DVD with THIS ending. They did a similar thing with The Butterfly effect, that had two totally different endings aswell. Dunno if it was the same company or what, though.

I still prefer the book, but as it goes the film would be amazing if they finished it like this.

I digress. This ending sucks. Anti-climax alert. Such a cool twist, the vampires were actually really sweet and just wanted to live in peace... peaceful savages, yay.

The theatrical ending was good, despite being different from the book (I hate people who think everything different is bad). Neville's structured and ordered life breaks down and just when you think deux ex machina saved him, everything goes to shit. Completely unable to resist the vampire's march, suicide is the only option. It was quick and dramatic. The fact the girl lived didn't really bother me, but it didn't add anything.

I didn't, but I know roughly what's in it and that the movie differs greatly from the book. A lot of people that like the book like the alternate ending, because it's closer to the book's spirit. The movie wasn't made in the book's spirit at all, however, so the alternate ending doesn't make much sense in the film.

Even Omega Man ended with Neville dying.....

At what point did you think the ring leader cared for the captured? Cuz he stood in the light for 3 seconds staring at will smith? I thought it was just a leader testing boundaries. With that, I thought the ending was supportive. The ring leader was a savage, incapable of human emotion. He just wanted to be first to kill will. In other words, the leader didnt see "Nevelle" or didnt care.
