If a white girl from Florida was swimming faster than the fastest male swimmer in the world, I would question wether or not she was jutting.
This is all a moot point tho as all of these athletes are using some sort of ped.
If you're not cheating, you're not trying and its only cheating if you get caught.
I'm all about "if you're not cheating you're not trying." It just pisses me off that when Michael Phelps wins, the media goes out of their way to identify every factor of his life that helped contribute to his success, from perfect natural genetics, to a diet crafted down to the single calorie, to the most rigorous daily training known to man. And yet here we have a Chinese girl who has passed all the same screenings as the Americans, and can swim faster than the Americans, and the first inclination is to overlook genetics, discipline, and determination, and just brand her a cheater.
Either come out with it that they're all cheating, thus making an even playing field anyway, or hold your fucking allegations until we have substantial reason to believe they're true. If you match the #1 women's tennis player in the world up against the #300 men's player, the man will likely win with ease. Same with the top WNBA player against most Division I men's players. Here we have a woman beating the top times from male Olympians, and rather than celebrating it as we have every time an American has ever been successful (remember how desperately fans and analysts wanted Marion Jones's name to be cleared?), we just brand a 16-year-old girl a dirty fucking cheater.
Christ, this is the jingoistic aspect of the Olympics I can't stand.
