I've been a skinny bastard all my life. My brother and uncles are all skinny.
I used to be in decent aerobic shape, but for the last 4 years I have been a pathetic sedentary office/computer monkey. I've tried typical weight training programs in the past, but I'd always burnout on them within a month and got nowhere.
I joined my office gym a month ago. The only time I have seen a gain in weight capacity was this week after coming back from an 8 day vacation.
Based on info in these forums, I've decided to switch to an HITish program with long periods of rest (3-4 days between workouts and 8-9 days between major muscle groups) and primarily big compound movements that will be slow and controlled. Aerobic activity will be interspersed with at least 3 30+ minute activities per week.
I'm trying (and getting close) to eating 140g of protein daily.
My goals are pretty modest. I would like to get to around 165 and maintain it for life.
