What's up?....Any avid b-ball players around who have any good exercises or drills, etc.? (i.e. vertical leap? quickness?)

I hear plyometrics is really good for increasing your vertical. As well, if you have Kazaa, I recommend downloading "Air Alert" - it seriously helped me. Body bulding also helps strengthen your legs, and training yoru fast twitch muscle fibres will help with yoru agility.

what up dogg, I am huge lover of the game and have been for many years, no doubt. I play as much as I can while BB. It was my first love defn. stick with the plyos and get to squattin heavy. you will be all set. peace

`sup dude, the game's my first love and i will keep playing it as long as im able to. Came to this board to learn how to get stronger and bigger to help my game too! Basically, they've said it's plyometrics and heavy suqatting. But vertical isnt everything.Dunking all the time isnt playing ball and it wont help your team a whole lot. gotta make your Js. Also i think agility is the most overlooked aspect of the conditioning, try star runs in the lane... im out

i am all about the flex bands and jump stretch when i played hoops it dramatically increased my vertical from about 35 inches to 40 in two years.

plyos plyos and more plyos. also lots of sprinting! and squating as well for keep your legs strong!
I did all that in high school playing basketball, works awesome!!

Try Air Alert II. I did it for 5 weeks an I increased my vert/quickness. It really does work well.

I recommended that, "I recommend downloading "Air Alert" - it seriously helped me." Air Alert is kick ass, but it requires serious dedication and time. What are your favourite teams? Think the Lakers are gonna win it all this year?

if they can be get healthy then they can be dangerous. I think that Sacremento is gonna be real tuogh to beat, especially with C-webb back and Peja plyin the way he is. Minnesota I think will get to teh Conf Finals this year on Garnett's back. Indiana is though also although I don't see an Eastern Conf team going all the way. We will see how the Lakers come together at the end here. They certainly have teh talent to do it, thats for sure.

What is air alert? Also, Lakers are my favorite team but I don't think they can win it all. They aren't healthy and they seem to not have great chemistry. I mean they have four of the best players in the NBA right now and they are in like 4th place in their conference. Kings seem to have the best chance. They are dominating even w/o webber.

I don't see Minnesota going far. They've head Garnett every year for the paty 5 (or is it 6?) years. I predict they're going to get out in the first round...again. And the Magic...don't even bother. Somehow, they went from a B rated team to flunking out....

I don't see the Wolves goin' out in the first round. It's not just Garnett anymore. They added Sprewell, Cassel, Hudson, and Olowokandi. And I used to like the Magic but their management is stupid. They make stupid trades and let good players go. Now they have the worst record in the NBA.

What I don't understand is how the Pacers picked up their game without doing anything to their roster

their game matured. They have a young team and now they are figuring out what it takes to be successful in the second half of the season. I love Jermaine O'neal. He is one of teh top three best forwards in the game right now IMO

thank you soooo much!

Well, Im hoping for my Spurs to pull it out again, but Sac and Minnesota look really good. The Lakers Im not too worried about, although they ARE the Lakers, and the T-Wolves are good enought to get past the first round, but after that its really a toss up.

Guess we'll see.

But think about next year: Payton's definitely gonna go because of the bad team chemistry (namely, the little cry babe doesn't like the fact that the triangle doesn't revolve around him), Kobe doesn't know where he wants to go as a free agent, and Karl Malone is as old as my grandfather, his bod can't take another hard core season.

Now hold on one minute, There will be no Payton bashing as long as I am around.:D seriously, I have watched Payton grow and mature from day one and I can say he is easily the best point guard in the league, as well as the most underated. If you disagree its b/c you haven't watched him play enough. The triangle doesn't work well with a guard like him in the first place. He doesn't need an offense to revolve around him, he needs it to run through him, and so do the lakers! Gary is an unberlievable basketball player, and one of the most entertaining to watch play the game next to Jordan. I consider it a privelage to have been lucky enough to watch him play all these years in Seattle.

I don't mean to bash your boy, but I just expexted less whining. I mean, the Lakers don't really need him, just like the Raptors don't really need Vince Carter. But for both teams, the two players are beneficial. The Lakers have back up point guards, but how can you make a future H of F-er like Payton take a back seat to D-fish of Kareem Rush. I was just reading in Slam/ nba.com what a hard time he's having adjusting to the Lakers' style of play. I just repeted what I heard...

P.S. Any thoughts on whose ACTUALLY going all the way...Cleaveland?

its all good, I just love Gary's game. He is unhappy, the trianlge offense isn't made for him really. I really can't see Cleveland beating anyone come playoff time. First they have to focus on making the playoffs, and IF they do that, their team is so young that its gonna be tough to beat anyone in a 7 game series, despite their talent. I thinks its gonna be a few years before they contend. If they can keep Lebron and Boozer together though, that will be a great combo in years to come. As for whose is gonna win it, I still say that Sacrementon is the team that looks the scariest in a series, Peja and Miller are having incredible seasons, and now Webber is back and will be in shape come playoff time. I think that Minnesota can be dangerous. I don't see the Lakers coming together unless Malone returns in time but you can't count them out. We will see though, its shapin up to be an exciting playoffs I think. There are lots of teams that could step up.

Why do the lakers play so shitting? i'm getting pissed off. after they signed malone and payton in the offseason i thought they'd win it all, no problem. i think they play down to opponents and have poor defense. other day they gave up 61 pts in the first half to orlando, who has the worst record. Lakers pulled it off in the 4th and OT though.

Payton is tight. I haven't really seen him whinning but i don't really care what he does off the court or after the whistle as long he plays well.

I totally agree with you titans. With a roster like the one they have now, their present record is somewhat less than extraordinary. But I feel that their (beginning of the season's) starting five are the ones that could take them all the way (provided Karl comes back, and Kobe stays healthy and out of jail.) I think this might be Malone's last win, and if he wants a ring badly enough...he'll do whatever he can to get it...

well its very simple, its not about having teh five best players on teh court necessarily, its about having the the five players that play the best together. Team chemistry in EVERYTHING and having a bunch of egos on the team isn't necessarily a recipe for success. Sometimes there aren't enough balls on the court. Do they have the talent, absolutely. Do they have what it takes to come together and play great team basketball..? we will see.

That's a good point...for example, Minnesota doesn't have that many amazing players. They have a few, but because of their chemistry, they're in second. I predict it will be Indiana vs. NJ and Sac-town vs. Lakers in the conference semis...don't know where it will go from there. My hometown Raptors don't have a chance..I hope Minnesota makes it far.

Uhhh...the Lakers are a playoff team. Who cares how they're playing in the regular season, watch them take over in the postseason. And KG better win the MVP this year, or it's a damn shame...

The finals will be Lakers/Nets again.

Peace.

A great example of where chemistry won a championship for a team, is when the Anaheim Angels won the World Series a couple years ago. You guys probably don't follow baseball but the Angels didn't really have many stars so no one gave them a chance to win it all but they did.

hell ya, your a Raptors fan. nice. I love Toronto, mainly b/c of Vinsanity, but they have a good team. I am rooting for them to get that 8th spot no doubt. Carter is one of my fav players, I have followed his career from Carolina and I love watching him play.

What the heck are you talking about, saying the Wolves don't have an amazing squad....LOOK AT THEIR DEPTH...Sam Cassell has always been one of the premier point guards in the L, I don't care what anyone says, Sprewell will put butts in seats, KG is without a doubt the MVP this year, plus they have Wally Szcerbiak coming off the bench and Troy Hudson having another solid year playing in the rotation...

How is that not a great squad? They have the most stocked back-court in the L, arguably, and a power forward who can play any of the five spots on the floor, PLUS more depth than damn near every team. I don't think I have to remind you that the Kandi man is there, Fred Hoiberg adds a nice three point touch off the bench, etc.

And as far as my Raptors go.......let's just say I'd rather not talk about it right now...

Peace.

I agree with Premo. I think the Wolves have great depth. But somehow the Spurs still killed them yesterday, 106-86. Probably cause sprewell and kandiman had bad games.
