Conversation Over

I refuse to discuss this anymore in this open forum because it is wasting my time and your time people. Know that whether I agree or disagree, fight I will, and I will always have every soldiers back, forever, even long after I retire. I will always be a loyal soldier. That is all. MTN WARRIOR OUT. :thumb:

Seriously- we're the most powerful nation in the world....and have done nothing but protect those who can't protect themselves...including, at the moment, the Sudan conflict which no one mentions....the U.S. is providing at least 100 million possibly billions in aid, while the entire E.U. (~25 countries), is providing only millions(~10 million)- (figures may have changed since the article I read)......

the following data has been taken from foxnews.com:

???The foreign and defense policies of Ronald Reagan (search) resulted in the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the freeing of approximately 122 million people in Eastern Europe.

??? The state of Israel would cease to exist if not for American protection, and about 5.5 million Jews would be in grave danger.

??? Nearly 23 million Taiwanese would be denied freedom if not for American protection. More than 48 million South Koreans would be living under a dictatorship if not for American protection. USA action led to the removal of the Serbian dictator Milosevic (search), who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Balkans.

??? The USA and Britain removed the Iraqi dictator Hussein, who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East. And we have also removed the terrorist Taliban government in Afghanistan.

??? America is sending $15 billion to Africa to help victims of AIDS. We were unable to find out how much France contributes, if anything. To be fair, Canada sends $270 million, which is substantial.

??? American action in Central America, Grenada (search), and Haiti (search) has kept millions of people out of totalitarian regimes. Of course, all of this has cost every American taxpayer big. And thousands of American servicepeople have lost their lives protecting people overseas.

It is insulting and dishonest for Americans and Canadians and Europeans to condemn this country because they don't like certain policies. Dissent is good. Slander is unacceptable.

The truth is that the USA has freed more human beings in 230 years than the rest of the world combined. France has freed almost no one. Ditto Canada.

We are not the tyrants in this world, we fight them; and provide freedom- but we always seem to wear the black hat...I don't get it, I guess some people hate Bush so much they lack reason....

You can shout "It's not about Oil" and it wouldn't do any good.

People made their mind up about Bush when he WON the election. They've hated him ever since. It doesn't really matter what the man does-these people made their minds up years ago to hate him and everything he does, regardless if he made the right call or not.

I drove out of the base today and was "welcomed" by a bunch of ass clowns calling me a baby killer. WTF is that? One day it was so bad, if I was armed........

how about those liberals calling soldiers baby killers, yet themselves supporting partial birth abortions----what B.S.

The guys on the left are all hypocrites. What do you expect? Liberals "feel" things about a certain topic. Conservatives "think" things about a certain topic.

Watch interviews with people that are known to be conservative or liberal. Listen to what they say. You'll see the above is true in almost ALL cases.

I think most soldiers were called baby killers. The sucky part is our own people make us feel like we are criminals for protecting the shit heads. I got called a baby killer and spit on myself many times. Just hang in there and soon enough they may wise up to the idiotic shit they are doing.......... Most of them have never fought a war , nor will they ever have to..... :yell:

I mostly got that when i was stationed in 29 palms california and I went out on libbo to Palm Springs or LA. But out here, especially in Detroit, and Toledo my hometown, that kind of stuff never happens, everybody is really supportive over here, it's just when you go to either coast, people get a little stupid. I never wore my uniform off base, and I always changed over in the air port bathrooms to civilian attire when I travelled, so I've never been spit on in uniform before.

Agreed, and that's why I just ignore them when I'm out and about. That's why they make ya put your rifle in the armory when ya leave for libbo, cuz I'm right there with ya, I see a group of idiots protesting me and spitting at me, and I have a grenade in my lbv, we might have a problem there.

yep a lomg messed up war where very little sleep is gotten, leeches on the body, assholes shooting at you from everywheres, very little food, already on the edge of insanity, long sleepless nights sitting up watching for the enemies and you gotta come home to the assholes!!!!!!! no fuckin wonder we gotta take meds to keep ourselves from commiting suicide or murder!!!!!!!!!!

Yep one side is all heart and no smarts the other side is all smarts and no hearts. I guess that's why we have 2 systems cause no one can function in the middle. Knowledge mixed with empathy = balance

Is this a discussion or just a name calling contest?

It never fails to amaze me that the screams about Michael Moore as a propagandist comes the loudest from those who love to quote Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and the Moonie-owned Washington Times as if propaganda was a breath of needed fresh air. One would think ya'll would appreciate good propaganda, since you voraciously devour it every day in your search for a new enemy, a new war, and someone new to blame for every foreign and domestic ill.

Now let's get something straight here, Rich - you didn't join the military years ago out of this deep love and devotion for the ideals and Constitution of this country - you did it for Numero Uno. And while that happened to coincide with doing service for your country, you certainly didn't miss an opportunity to get as much of the taxpayers' benefits as possible to forward your own personal agenda. Why don't you get off this bitter self hero-worship rant and act like you are an American citizen who served his country instead of someone who trained for years in order to turn against his own fellow citizens? I can't apologize because Congress didn't put your head up over all the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore - or that we don't have your portrait in every school classroom and teach our kids how to goosestep with their mini assault weapons in recognition of your fear that a road runner might get across the dried-up Rio Grande and eat a piece of American rangegrass.

So ya say you are afraid for this country? Well, isn't that what being a rightwinger is all about dude? Spreading fear, and using it to create a police state? You know, something that would guarantee your law enforcement career a prime rib on the table every night and a chance to use your own array of personal WMD's to plow down fellow citizens who might voice disagreement? And you know the plan to get there is to plant as much fear and hysteria as possible...you know, your correct "religion" has to be about "fearing" God...we gotta fear the French, fear the damned leftists, fear the next door neighbor, fear the guys in uniform who haven't learned how to goosestep, fear the hometown newspaper cuz it doesn't publish patriotic speeches every morning all over the front page. We gotta fear the "liberals" (who must be everyone who isn't toeing the PARTY line), fear our educators. . fear a speck of dirt in our toenails, fear the U.N., and goddammit, we better be ready to shoot our damned shadow in the midst of the night cuz we might need to be afraid of ourselves when we sleep, too. Ain't that the whole agenda, buddy?

And to satisfy that fear, we are supposed to trust the cream of the Party's finest to lead this nation into oblivion. Yep...that's right...we gotta blindly follow a Party that couldn't nominate anyone better than a man with an addictive personality who has trouble expressing himself - who keeps confusing popular elections with an appointment by God, and who feeds every divisive fire possible in this nation while demanding complete loyalty because "we are at war." Anyone who thinks differently from the Party line - who expresses it in the media, in an opinion, who says something outside some fanatical "church" is a disloyal, unpatriotic, god-forsaken illiterate trash excuse for humanity and should be shot.

No wonder in the last few days, your Administration has been attacked by the wife of the vice president for his support for dismantling the Constitution, attacked by the nations leading scientists for substituting ideologues for scientific research in areas of health, and accused by none other than a damned park police official of firing people who didn't toe the Party line in being a proper ideologue in protecting our national icons.

Now, you go on and worry about all those nasty people in other countries who we gotta keep invading and taking over. . .and we'll pretend that you don't really know that it's a nice coverup for a little tyrannical terrorism going on right here at home, and supported by your divine leader and the Party.

The only scary thing here is that we might wake up one morning and find out that Moore was somehow right and we were too busy listening to still another rightwing temper tantrum to hear the message clearly.

I can't possibly see how you could come up with that assessment with all that "liberal" media bias. . .

I've seen some Conservatives think about topics....and offer some points and observations that are important. Of course, then we get the flurry of loudmouthed, tantrum-throwing zealots who are so busy shouting down other people and calling everyone in sight another name that it's hard to tell that they take any time to think at all - or are afraid that someone might figure out that they don't.

And I've seen that happen on both sides of the spectrum. Anytime we surrender the country to bullying rhetoric on any side, we put the future of our whole system at risk.

How the hell do you know those were "liberals?" They could be screwed up fundamentalist "christians" preaching love and the value of human life as they call abortion clinic docs "baby killers" and blow them up with the building. There was an ex-Army Ranger just convicted of plotting this very thing recently in Ft. Lauderdale.

???The foreign and defense policies of Ronald Reagan (search) resulted in the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the freeing of approximately 122 million people in Eastern Europe.

They forgot Grenada. Of course, we spent billions also propping up repressive governments that we saw as strategic allies, a policy (to be fair) that extends back beyond World War II.

??? The state of Israel would cease to exist if not for American protection, and about 5.5 million Jews would be in grave danger.

We got ourselves into that by creating the State. We have to honor that commitment now. . .

*We've backed away from our treaty commitment to Taiwan. Bush's policy is for continuing dialogue to eventually unite Taiwan with mainland China, a serious departure from our recognition and defense of Taiwan as the legitimate China.

??? The USA and Britain removed the Iraqi dictator Hussein, who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East. And we have also removed the terrorist Taliban government in Afghanistan.

*We didn't remove the Kuwaiti monarchy which does not promote democracy.

??? America is sending $15 billion to Africa to help victims of AIDS. We were unable to find out how much France contributes, if anything. To be fair, Canada sends $270 million, which is substantial.

*So far, we've only coughed up $200 million of our pledged commitment. Our government is also being criticized for trying to tie abstinance policies to assistance.

??? American action in Central America, Grenada (search), and Haiti (search) has kept millions of people out of totalitarian regimes. Of course, all of this has cost every American taxpayer big. And thousands of American servicepeople have lost their lives protecting people overseas.

*Yes they have, and often not being sent to protect American citizens, which is the primary role of our military. Again, we made those expensive choices and expect a return in loyalty and prestige.

It is insulting and dishonest for Americans and Canadians and Europeans to condemn this country because they don't like certain policies. Dissent is good. Slander is unacceptable.

*This sounds like one of those fox news vague statements. What is condemnation? Do they mean dissent as being support with reservations? Or is having reservations considered slanderous?

The truth is that the USA has freed more human beings in 230 years than the rest of the world combined. France has freed almost no one. Ditto Canada.

*Well, this is a subjective statement. While I agree in principle to what they are trying to say here, it's really up to the citizens in each country to decide if they are "free." Moreover, Canada has, in the last 30 years, a much better track record of taking people in for political and religious persecution, including recently, some of our own American gay people. We start having our own people fleeing persecution here and it takes away from the idea that we profess to "free" others.

We are not the tyrants in this world, we fight them; and provide freedom- but we always seem to wear the black hat...I don't get it, I guess some people hate Bush so much they lack reason....

Hating Bush has nothing to do with fighting tyrants. .. there are those of us who have watched his Administration increasing use tyrannical tactics to pursue an agenda that could permanently alter our long-held concepts of freedom and equality. It isn't a Bush tradition to fight tyranny, it's an American one. Fighting tyranny abroad is also not the same as engaging in religious and cultural warfare on your own population.

Ok Kbm so you made alot of interesting comments about alot of things that people have said. Can I ask you what is your point. You went off attacking conservatives. You told everyone that we are having a name calling contest and ya kinda went off on anyone that bashed liberals, that much I got. But was that your point, that you hate conservatives. Cuz you could have said that in one post. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but just explain to me what you were trying to say, cuz I must have missed the point in all of your threads.

Listen to the way you talk, you sound like a Michael Moore movie. Who cares about conservatives or liberals being hypocrites, they are both all fucked up if you get too far to the extreme right or the extreme left. Don't act like one side is innocent and the other is not, give me a break.

These remarks below aren't directed at you, Sean. . .actually, I thought you tried to write some thoughtful posts.

It's just a reaction to this whole thread filled with the usual memorized buzzwords and tired generalizations.

So...well, if you need a lot of namecalling to feel like there is "weight" in the words, you'll have to get Rich to go off on another tantrum.

And I wasn't attacking conservatives...I don't consider people who advocate destruction of a free government as conservatives. Nor do I consider people who allude to wanting to shoot fellow citizens who disagree with their ideology as conservatives.

I don't believe in treating soldiers in a disrespectful manner any more than I believe other citizens should be treated badly because of differing beliefs. I just don't hold a lot of respect for people who memorize spoonfed cliches by some loud mouthed radical radio talk show host and pass it off as a personal opinion. There is nothing personal about it.

It indicates that a lot of people in this country are incapable or unwilling to think for themselves and want someone to do all of that for them. If that's the case, that's a right, but for godsakes, have the balls to admit that you want the President to do all of your thinking for you, or your minister, or some political activist, or your firearm. At least have the balls to accept that you'd rather not have to be responsible for considering different thoughts or viewpoints and would rather forcibly make everyone believe the same thing.

Don't pass off your responsibility as a free citizen to some political party propagandist machine and then ramble on about how patriotic ya'll are. You start doing that, and you'll sell out the very country you are claiming to defend.

That isn't directed at you, Sean..just a fast explanation of what I was trying to say. You guys are grownups - you should be capable of having a discussion without throwing so many names around. In my opinion, there wasn't any excuse for the way MTN WARRIORS opinion was treated here. His opinion wasn't "leftist," wasn't necessarily "liberal," but it was his own. That's what the hell ya'll are supposed to be defending.

Uh...I don't sound like any Michael Moore. The hypocrisy is in those who rabidly criticize his work while they voraciously devour every line handed to them by their own media propagandists. Worse, they memorize the cliches and pass them off as personal opinions. It's always the same whiny story....the leftists did it, the liberals, the liberal media, everyone who doesn't agree should be deported or shot....all a reflection of the highest patriotic respect for democratic ideals, don't you think? They never admit a mistake, are silent when proven wrong, and spend more time thinking about all the people they wish they could destroy than the ones they claim to defend.

Where I come from, a "pussy" is someone who is threatened by everything.

Yeah I agree you hear alot of crap about the liberal media, the left wing nuts, and so on. But from the liberals, you hear another day in our war for oil, reasons why the world hates us, and so on. It's hard to tell which side is worse sometimes.

1)Sorry to tell ya man, the reason you can go out and scream, "It's not about oil." and it won't matter is because it IS about oil, and it sucks. Problem is, it won't matter because once Iraq is in OPEC, we will continue to be ass-raped for oil. You seem like an idealist, Sean, and that is awesome, but I think you will find in the coming years that you were lied to. :(

2)Talking about hypocrites, How can someone who completely avoided combat and another guy who dodged the draft ask for the draft to be implemented?

3)Not a single person who is on the far left or far right can ever be accused of rational thought, it simply does not exist in extremists. All the people to the far right are religious freaks, and all the people on the far left...Well, I can't even really describe them, but it's not good. I guess pot smoking hippies. :D

Rich comes up with the coolest rants & conspiracy theories, all while violating yet another farm animal (helps him focus).
