Hi every body,,

Is it Ok to have 20 gr of protein powder with 1 banana 30 minutes prior to workout while cutting and 40 gr of protein immediately after workout? I should tell you that I take 1 ECA stack before my exercise and I do one day cardio and hit the weights in the other day.

Please advice me..

This is a turbulent subject, but many people do not agree with eating solid food within one hour of exercise. During training your muscles need an increase of blood flow, but during digestion your stomach also needs an increase of bloodflow so it is believed that eating shortly before training actually diverts blood that your muscles need to your stomach to aid in the digestion. I reccomend a simple sugar like dextrose pre and during exercise because dextrose is a 6 carbon sugar called D-glucose, and unlike other sugars, glucose can be easily absorbed into your system and transported to your muscles, while other complex sugars like fructose need to be converted to glucose in your liver.

na man just 1 bananna ain't gonna cut it, you could do with some oats and whey before your workout (30-45mins before hand) that will give you all the energy you need for an intense lifting session

then post workout you want dextrose and whey (and if you want a bananna this is the best time to eat it, esspecially if your cutting - only time you want high GI foods is straight after workout)

peace

Hopefully this is at 1900 hours and not the length of your workout, because if it is then i think you may be overtraining a bit.

comeon man,, Absolutely I mean my workout starts at 1900 hours for 1 and half hour.

I don't think the pre WO banana should be a problem. but with post WO are you not eating any carbs with the 40 grams of protein ? if you are done training at 8 - 8:30 pm you should still have some form of carbohydrates. something low GI like oats would be best while cutting...

Hello Lam,

Is Post workout protein and cerbs recomended in the day I do only cardio while cutting? Also, what should I take after the workout while cutting in the day I do wieghts and in the day I don only cardio?

thanks,

post workout carbs are essential regardless of bulking or cutting! and it don't matter if its weights, cardio or just walking the dog you need a PWO shake with high carbs after a workout, this will prevent you losing all your muscle as when you train muscle fibres break down, glycogen needs to be restored in muscles for growth and repair - hence consuming whey and a high GI carb source is ideal for this as it gets proteins and amino acids straight to your muscles when you need it, having carbs after any workout will not make you fat, esspecially when cutting! (your body is crying out for carbs at this time!)

and it don't matter what time of day you workout, your pre/post workout nutrition should be identical 1st thing in the morning or last thing at night
