Over simplified question.
I am against it in it's current form.
I am for welfare if it would be reformed.

I'm all about that free money:coffee:

When healthy people abuse the system I am against it.....
It's supposed to be a temporary aide not a permanent fix.

I'm all for welfare as a short-term aid only.

And only for Americans.

Agreeed but the game is rigged if you not an american you can get it faster if u are one well not so good

I am a conservative republican, so I support govt programs and tax cuts to aid the rich. I love rich people, hope to be rich one day myself, and I am disgusted by poor people. I am also a devout racist and I cling to my guns and religion when I get pissed off.

The current system needs to be fixed. Otherwise if somebody needs help then they should get it. It shouldn't be a lifestyle like it is for some.

Wait...so, you're my soul mate?

What do you consider short-term? I know people that have been on unemployment for two years now. It's not welfare but they are still raping the system. All these unemployment extensions are bs. It should be 9 months and that's it. No matter what. Maybe I'm just angry because I have worked my whole life and never missed a bill, ever. The worst is when you know someone who is collecting unemployment and they are buying things, have nicer clothes then you, nicer cell phone. Then they complain that they don't have enough money to pay their bills. Makes me re-think why I am friends with some people. I know I kinda shifted topics here but it's sorta related.

i agree to a point.and it depends what you call welfare.there are many programs out there, that can be considered welfare.there was a lot of things i use to say, until i was the one unemployed.there are always those few, that make it look bad for the rest.but most of all americans like me dont like to be unemployed.its just not that easy.the haves always talk stuff, until their the ones that dont have.and then its okay.

there is abuse of the system, no doubt but our family has had to depend on welfare at one point or another and it helped us.

My brother, the princeton valedictorian had a bipolar I breakdown, was living on the streets homeless, got him on medicaid, hospitalized for one month, had to get disability for two years until he stabilized, now is a physicist consultant making 200 grand a year and is a law abiding tax payer.

My dad was a POW in Vietnam for 5 years, In Air AMerica so technically did not exist,( being a cia operative my mom could not get veteran's benefits) my mom had to raise three eurasian kids in Malaysia, could not find work ( no such thing as day care in the 70's) , she starved, weighed 88 pounds but got the equivalent of Malaysian welfare to feed and clothe her three kids ( we lived in a Leper colony)
my father escaped, we are fine and all three of us have incomes in the top 5 percentile and gladly pay our taxes.

Drug testing should be mandatory for anyone that is on welfare. I know so many people that abuse the system. :pissed:
I am not against it for the people that truly need welfare but dang there are a lot of lazy people that abuse it.

If it keeps an army of hobos from swarming me begging for money every time I walk by the beach where they hang out instead of just one or two then I'm all for it. It's only when it becomes the catholic ho who thinks it's her right to have 7 kids and make us pay for them because she can't keep the cock out of her crack that I think things need to change.....children are not meal tickets...

Wow. You should write a book. I saw a documentary on a Leper colony. It was hard for me to watch.

I cling to my guns and religion to express myself then drink a 1.75ml bottle of jack to express my politics....:coffee:

I had family that used welfare in CA for what it was for, an AID. They lost their jobs during this "economic crisis" and used it as a door to finish schooling. Now both family members are full time professors with master's degrees in different fields and now pay their taxes very willingly hoping that it will support at least one more person that was in their situation. Yes, people will abuse it but there are also people that take advantage of it in a positive manner.

They did say that the welfare in CA is absurd. They were required to spend any excess money on frivolous shit(it didnt matter what) as they were not allowed to have any extra money in the bank account. How ridiculous is that? The welfare system needs an overhaul to eliminate those that do not have a desire to further themselves but I do think it plays a very good role to helping "SOME" people get back on their feet.
