I have about fifty pounds of fat to lose before i can even consider training. Many of my buddys have had great success with Atkins to get a "jump Start". I know I will lack energy with this diet but this is just to get through the first 20 pounds or so than i would revert to a sane balanced diet. My question: would injections of regular insulin help to promote ketosis?. I know its dangerous and am not looking for lectures. I would use say 10 units at a time and monitor my response

Again no lectures please just want to know if insulin used in conjuction with the Atkins diet is more effective in promoting ketosis than atkins used alone.

Thank you

Unless you have been to a doctor and he perscribed insulin to you for diabeties do not take it. I dont know the detales, but when my ex's sister lost her insulin and needles, her dad was very worried that some kid would find it and inject it. He said that it will kill someone if they inject a large dose. And he said a large dose would not be all that much to a normal person. How accurate this is, i am not sure. But i would not take it unless your doctor perscribed it for medical reasons.

I hate to lecture you on this, but it could mean your life.

Can anyone back me up on this?

Sorry, I can't answer your question either, but isn't the whole point of a keto diet the lack of insulin release? I don't understand how adding insulin could help?

anyway, I don't understand why you can't train now...why wait until you lose the w8? Anything you do is only going to add to your w8 loss efforts.
