Chris Mason from AtLargeNutrition was kind enough to send me some supplements from his company to try out. I was provided with 2 containers of Nitrean protein and a tub of Results. I am giving the Results another week or so before I post up a review since it takes some time for strength gains to manifest themselves. However, I thought I would share my thoughts on the protein:
One thing I noticed quickly was how easy it is to mix. This is true even for the chocolate stuff, which is usually more of a pain to mix than the other flavors. It may seem trivial, but if you've ever used protein powder that stays in chunks, or requires you to use way too much liquid and dilute the solution, then you know where I'm coming from.
I first tried the chocolate. I definitely like the taste a lot. It was not overly sweet, which is what I commonly find with protein powders. In fact, I feel like you taste cocoa a lot, and it more closely resembles the taste of dark chocolate. If you are a fan of dark chocolate, you will probably really like this protein powder (I am a big fan of it).
I was also provided with vanilla. I almost always buy some variation of chocolate flavored powder. However, I definitely liked this too, and that's saying a lot because I usually don't like anything but the chocolate variants from other companies. I would most closely equate the taste the vanilla to some kind of angel food cake.
I find both work much better in milk, but they aren't bad in water either.
Finally, and I find this to be the most important aspect, it seems to stave off hunger for me longer than other pure whey powders I have tried. If you were unaware, this also contains casein protein. I can say with confidence, because I eat virtually the same diet each day 5-6 days out of the week (Even on the other days, it is 80% the same or more), that I get anywhere from an additional 30-60 minutes before I am hungry again when compared to other whey powders I have used.
Normally I have a snack consisting of a scoop of whey in water and 3tbsp of peanut butter. It lasts me about 2 hours give or take 15 minutes. Then I get hungry ON the money. With this stuff it's more like 2.5-3 hours before I get hungry. This makes a big difference to me, because I am always on the go, and having the ability to get in a shake that actually does something is awesome.
Thanks AtLargeNutrition, I will post up my review of the Results in the not too distant future.
