After 11 innings and a 7-7 score, commissioner Bud Selig decides to end the game after both managers use all their pitchers.

IS THIS SOME KIND OF FRICKIN' JOKE?

I don't blame the fans for littering the field with garbage.

Yeah, that isn't what baseball needs right now.

What baseball needs right now is more steroids. Had more of the players been juiced, there may have been more home runs, and that would have resulted in more runs being scored and less chance of a tie.

:haha: What damn bunny hat did they pull that out of?? Are the same people running baseball that run nascar? Damn, talk about ludicrious decisions. What the crap did they base that decision on? I can't find anything on it this morning that says!

Apparently, it's because all the MLB managers did not want their star players going longer than two innings. What a joke. If these guys can't handle an extra couple of innings, they can stay the hell home or cancel the game altogether.

What happened to the good ol' days when players were not babied like this? I can hear Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, and Mickey Mantle rolling over in their graves.

It's just another foot in the grave that they are digging themselves into! It was very obvious that the fans did not agree at all!

i feel the whole season is going down the drain! i mean you cannot talk baseball without the topic of steriods and strike now being the centerpiece of conversation.

and to top it all of Selig has got to be the DUMBEST mother f*cking commissioner the game has ever seen. He should give up his post and return as the owner of Milwaukee. Then we definately know that they would never be in contention ever again, not like they have a shot now.

Damm this is pissing me off!

That WAS pretty cute when Posada's kid went running out when Jorge was introduced. :D

yeah that was one of the best moments.... I would be pissed if I paid to go to the game to see it end in a tie...this is not soccer or hockey, it's baseball

True on the lighter moments of the entire game.

Ya dam skippy about it ending in a tie. Look at Barry Zito, comes in the top of the 7th faces one batter and leaves. What he threw a total of 4 pitches (yeah he was spent). Hell they shouldv'e starting using position players and turned it into a home run derby just so someone couldv'e won!

I thought the whole situation sucked. One of the biggest problems is that they want to get everyone into the game. I say screw that. let the players play and the pitchers pitch, and if it goes into extra innings you can put in other players.

The statement I agree with is that they should have asked the PLAYERS if they wanted to continue. Selig didn't consult them, he just asked the managers, who were worried about injuring someone else's players and getting in trouble for it. I'm sure the players would have had a great time mixing it up, more like a pickup game than anything else. It was a sad day for baseball, which personally I lost interest in about eight years ago after the last strike.

Thier game isn't interesting enough to warrant multi-million dollar salaries and high ticket prices. As Homer Simpson once said:

"I can't believe how BORING this game really is" :D

Par for the course with baseball. Unfortunately.

I used to play it, watch it, read about it, track stats, etc. - a nut about it. Then they went on strike for @ 273 days. I said to myself - *#&$ these guys. I haven't watched a game since.

Now, they are talking strike again. We can only hope they don't come back. ;) EVER.

I've BEEN on strike. Where the hell are the rest of you guys? ;)

I think we need a strike by the fans.....

I'm thinkin in many many ways and for many many fans this will indeed happen. :gosh:

Sorry to stir the pot here but my big question is, SO WHAT??? I mean really, who cares? So it ended in a tie, what's the big deal? If it was an actual game that meant something to the standings I'd understand but, an All-Star game??? Why SHOULDN'T it end in a tie??? I firmly believe ALL the players should get a chance to play. It may be the only time in their lives they make it to the All-Star game so they should get a chance to actually be IN it. Now when a pitcher is only in there to face one batter and then leave I think that's taking things a bit far but other than that I don't see the problem. As far as I'm concerned there wouldn't be any controversey at all if ESPN and other sports "experts" didn't make such a big deal out of nothing. Is Bud Selig an idiot? Maybe, but in this case he made the right call. It wasn't his fault the managers used their players too fast. It isn't his fault that the rules say once a player's been replaced he can't go back in. No, in this case Selig is just a scape goat.

I agree AlBob. So freakin what!? It's just an All Star game.. Fans got to see an extra 2 innings of action, who cares who wins!?

Are you gonna tire or even injure your Curt Schilling or Mariano Riveira for some meaningless sideshow while you're trying to make a run for the playoffs?

Not a chance.
