You have 3 options for hamstrings: hamstring curls, stiff leg dead lift, and hyper extensions ( yes they work hamstrings much better than lunges)....and thats it.

Glute Ham raises are the best ham movement there is, forget lying hamstring curls and all that crap. Also something to think about is that hams are largely fast twitch muscle fibers so short extremely intense activities such as sprinting are great for ham development. Think about it, world class sprinters have better hamstrings than any other athlete out there

there are many more options

one great one is to put a pad under your knees, and hook your heels under a weight stack frame or some machine....and then go face down stiff body slooowly then right before your face hits gym EXPLODE back up into position if you even can.

its killer, hopefully you can picture what im describing

I'm not sure where he is going with this, but sprinting alone will not build great hamstrings....All the Olympic sprinters do hamstring curls and stiff leg dead lifts. :thumb: ( and don't forget most top world class sprinters use steroids...but you don't need to).

this is good for hardening up the hamstrings before a show

I do this exercise a lot also, especially before a show. Thanks for the info !
Do you know of any exercies that hits the hams like bench press does the chest or like leg presses do the quads !

I've even done good mornings & still no size. All these exercises work the hams but none of them hard like squats for the quads, curls for the biceps, deadlifts for the back etc. Are stiff legged deadlifts supposed to go down & feel the streetch & squeeze on the way. Is that it to them because I don't even get real sore from doing those !!
I may be doing somethin wrong !

Romanian Dead lifts

Ho do you do the ROMANIAN DEADLIFTS. Are they good for the hams !

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
are you cycling your legs when sprinting. i was told to cycle my legs when sprinting and tried it a couple of times, they sure do give your hammies a beating.

the main exercises for hammies i do

SLDL's (BB and DB)
Good Mornings
Romanian Deadlifts (you bend your knees a bit to get deeper, not good if you have tight hamstrings)
Deadlifts
Hypers

Oly lifts and their parts also hit your hammies fairly well

Squatting low bar with a wider stance will hit your hammies harder

It also might not be the exercise...how exactly do you work your legs. post up your w/o's as completely as you can, you might just need to introduce a different stimulus to your body to get your hammies growing.

the best thing for hams imo is the machine where u hit each one individually..u set one knee on a pad and straighten the other with a pad behind ur ankle and lift...youll know the machine if u see it...its a single ham hitter...works well though...there is no miracle mass ham builder

I appreciate the suggestions

Thanks for the info guys

anyone ever heard

I was told to use the standing calf machine to work out my traps.
I was told to use the pads as weight on my shoulders & lift my shoulders to work out my traps. Has ayone ever heard of exercises usung machines in this way.

It is just a variation on hise shrugs which are traditionally performed using a BB on your back (like where you would place it on a high bar squat).

Yup Yup

Thaks for all the replies. I will be trying them all. I do sprint everyone once in a while. I got my hamstrings from running track. My hamstrings have done nothing since I stopped sprinting on a regular basis. Keep the suggestions coming. I appreciate them all ! Hola back all !
