I'm getting anxious here about getting back into my routine...both fitness and nutrition. Of course, I have changed my diet throughout my pregnancy to cater little Miss Dixie's cravings  I've consumed things that I had totally cut out before pregnancy...but am damn proud to say my weight gain has only been what the doctors want, around 27 pounds. Actually it was 30 and I dropped three.

So, I have taken in ALOT of juices and popsicles, splurged on ice cream and alot more fruit (mainly watermelon, cantelope and peach slices).....and have not had any appetite for much protein (hence, my iron levels have been low). Sometimes, I go DAYS without eating any type of meat. Well, apparently I've done something right tho as Dixie is a VERY HEALTHY sized baby and I've managed my weight pretty well. I know that once she is born, I MUST get off this stuff and back to my routine but first I want to cleanse my body of it all. The day I get home from the hospital is when I plan on doing this...any suggestions on whats the best way to go that won't be TOO harsh on me or drain me....but slowly rid my body of toxins? Doc? W8? You probably could help me with this :D

Excellent to hear how you are doing! I've been missing the progress reports. You should be coming down to the wire now, huh?

Nothing a nice, relaxing enima could cure?
:barf:

I actually have nothing to offer...

If it means anything to you, a couple friends have had babies recently, and after three months, they are back to their lean, fit selves.
One is a 1st time mother, the other just had her 2nd.

Besides, with someone who is going to name her baby Dixie, I just had to say howdy.

So.....
HOWDY!

Who me?!?!?
Dr. P-
that's one of my main goals!

I agree! You may see that you may need more cals if you breast feed! Don't worry about dieting, etc. until after you're done breastfeeding! Breastfeeding takes a lot of cals, nutrients, energy from your body so it's impt to eat enuf, take lots of vits, and fats....

Burner, we know what you want :finger: ! Naughty, naughty! Don't take away food from a poor, starving, infant! Shame on you! :finger:
:D

I digress...there are two, um...hook up points! It's called sharing!

agree with DP and Lina... The only thing you may want to do is eat healthy... and feed your body often.

Did you breast feed your first child? Do you plan on breast feeding Dixie and for how long do you plan on doing this?

Hi Meso! Good seeing you again and hope all is well with you and yours :) Yes, down to the wire....I've got less then two weeks! :D

Burner....the enema is probably the best solution however I was thinking of something that would be a bit kinder to me  I know you were kidding tho :p Thanks for sharing about your friends and how they bounced back in no time....it's encouraging to hear news like that!

Pit, Lina and Doc.....I'm torn on whether or not I'm going to breastfeed. I tried it with my son and ended up with mastitis (sp?)...it was HORRIBLE. He also wasnt getting the "hang on it" very well and was losing weight in the beginning. I felt like such a failure too :( I think any woman who tries breastfeeding and it fails because it's either too painful or the baby doesnt *catch on*, naturally has those feelings of guilt. Lord knows I have enough in the dairy department for her plus ten more :o BUTT, I may just go with the bottle from the get go........Soooo I'll let you know.

Preggie, Don't be so hard on yourself... Doesn't matter whether you only breastfeed your child for 3 days or 3 years, you're not a failure... But each baby is different and it takes a while to learn how to breastfeed.

With my second one I had to have the nurse show me again how to feed my baby cauz I just forgot! I too had mastitis *OUCH* but it went away.... doesn't mean you will with each baby, just try it, if it doesn't work... no harm, just go to the bottle.. You're not a failure or a lesser mom!

But, at least try to do it when the baby is first born for bonding reasons, there is no better way to bond with a child when they first arrive and they plunk her on your chest and she looks you in the eyes with that helpless look and you tell ther everything's gonna be 'ok'.... and when their suckling instinct takes over...

It is completely normal for the baby to lose weight right after birth and it has nothing to do with being a failure with breast feeding. You have to remember breast feeding, or just feeding through the mouth is whole new experience for the baby. The bonding is important but not as important as the natural nutrients breast milk provides. It is so so beneficial for the childs immune system. My kid lived on breast milk alone for nearly 6 months. In the 18 months he has only been sick once!! I know of 3 girls at work who refused to even try and went straight to formula. All three of these kids have had more colds than I care to count.

Try it.. don't give up. If things don't workout at least go straight to the pump... it's beneficial for your system too!!

Can't wait to see little Dixie!!! :)

Well, not sure what kind of advice I can pass on.....but I do have 5 children.

If you can breastfeed, that is the way to go. Try to do it for at least the first few months as you will pass alot of antibodies and whatnot to the child.

Formula is expensive and I'm not convinced it's a suitable sub for breast milk. Besides, formula makes diaper changing a event. I needed a gas mask to avoid puking at the stench at times :D

Thanks so much for everyones tits...errr Tips! I think I will give it a go when I deliver and just take it from there. Like Lina said....that is such a awesome time and theres no better feeling in the world then to bond that way when they are just minutes old. If she doesnt get the hang of it, then I can say I tried and we will just make do with Enfamil :) Thanks for the encouragement ya'll :thumb:
