Now this is just a general question but I feel it is more anabolic related than otherwise.

Okay I plan to compete around my early 30's so ten years or so from
Now and i'm looking for advice from vets or those who compete themselves really.

This year I will do a final bulk, relatively lean but a bulk all the same, and then a long recomp to lean right down to close to single digits if not below. To assess what needs work the most.

The question is from that point on do you think it would be best to bulk up to a target weight then cut and so on and so forth, or to essentially follow a recomp throughout that whole time?

I'd be incline to go lean bulks mostly with recomps as needed so I never really cut down too harshly. Maybe a year out from first show do a trial run precontest prep to get a real feel for what needs work.

Opinions please guys.

While I am no vet and not competing for at least another year or two, I would be concerned that bulking too far would overstretch your skin making it harder to look sharp on stage. I don't know how long it takes to tighten up loose skin.

Input is still much appreciated though. I see your point, bulking up too fast will do damage to the skin.
Thankyou

I'm not an bb'er but I can tell you from an athletic point of view, it's not too good to ballon up and down. It's better to keep yourself at a reasonable bf% and keep adding lbm.

But you must understand that even in bodybuilding, different pro's have different techniques. Some bulk up a lot and then cut a lot, some stay relatively lean and add lbm, some have other techniques.
