What's your biggest pet peeve in the gym?

I hate when people don't wipe away their sweat!

guys who look at what weight you are doing, then sneer cause it's not what they do. they have no idea how many reps or sets you are doing and think they're all that.

Good one Coleman! It's actually funny bc/ it's very often that it occurs!

Let's see........ Pet Peeve....

How about people who just talk all the time and not workout.

People askin me to spot them.
Nah jokes aside, what coleman said.
And people with terrible form, using momentum cheating with other bodyparts etc, thinking they are The Hulk.

The only things that bother me are those actions which disturb my workout. That would include not putting weights back when they're done, sitting on equipment when not using it, not letting me work in, etc. If other people want to use terrible form, or cheat their movements, or just talk (as long as it's not with me), I don't really care.

I got three:

Sweaty fuckers that don't carry a small towel and leave sweat all over a bench when they are through.

People who "reserve" a bench or machine by leaving a towel or weight belt on it, then walk away and don't use the equipment for 15 minutes or so. Cockmunches.

Social butterflies who do more talkin' than liftin'. They just distract me and get in the way.

I agree 100% - foget what other people are doing (as long as it doesn't affect you) and concentrate on your own lifting. I think if your bothered just by people chatting then your probably need to focus more.

OMG.......I completely agree with you on that.

I've gotten to the point where if someone is just sitting on something I would like to be using.....I walk over to them and say, "Excuse me, but if you're not using the equipment can you kindly remove yourself?" I'm respected there, so, I have no problems getting people to move when I bring up little comments such as that.

Also, something that wasn't covered....MEN STINCHING UP THE GYM!!! I have many times walked up to the person bragging about "it" and sprayed their area and asked next time, they be kind enough to go to the bathroom for a release. Not everyone wants to smell what you had to eat today!

Another: BODY ODOR........some people need to learn how to shower. I've actually walked up to people with deodorant and ask them to use it or shower next time they come back. I'm sorry. It sounds rude......COM'ON though.

Oh...sorry one more...

The people who walk up to the gym smoking a cig. put it out, and do cardio!!!!!!!!!!! THAT JUST KILLS ME........... Effnn idiots.

Okay...I'm fired up now.

I hate when I've gone through all the trouble to work out and sweat all over the equipment and someone comes over and wipes away all the territory I've claimed

I hate when I've put my towel on the bench and walk away for a long period of time (to talk to other people trying to lift) and someone comes over and takes the towel off and uses my bench anyway!

all these people who come to the gym and all they do is work out. Annoying showoffs

You're such a smart ass

seriously though, this post reminded me of something that bothered me. A few weeks ago Tit and I were in the gym and suddenly a guy comes in, walks around this big unpopulated room full of equipment and paces around for a while. He would even periodicly hop on a machine or two and use it for no more than 2 minutes at a time. I'm not even sure he knew how most of them worked. So he comes over to the machine I'm on and asks how long I plan to be using it. Of all the things for him to play with, he had to bother me. Maybe this sounds a bit unjustified, but he said it so pushy, like he was rushing me. Go eat a corndog asshole :yell:

Lol. I've had people come up to me like the guy you're commenting about. I just laugh and tell'em they'll know when I'm done. I'll also invite them to work in with me as long as they know, you get in, do your thing and move. I don't mind resetting the equipment. Just don't like it when they sit there acting like they don't want to be at the gym. BLOWS MY MIND.

OMG....There is this guy at my gym. I call him the "Gym Geek." He wears tight sweats and pulls them up to his chest. Younger man. Not old or I wouldn't make fun of him. Anyway, this guy is just too funny. It's something new each time he comes in. Another time, he wore cut off shorts that were tight (reminds you of a white Steve Erkle) to where you could see his jut. On top of that, he was wearing white tube socks with the red and blue stripe at the top and old worn out sneakers.

Anyone have gym geeks?

You can shower daily and still stink! If you shower in the morning and work out heavily for a while and sweat like crazy, your still gonna smell! (Though deoorant helps a lot)

I hate people that don't rack their weights. I hate people that don't throw their empty water bottles away. I hate people that don't know enough to put the DBs in the proper spots on the rack. I hate people that abuse the equipment.

on the opposite...too much perfume!
if you walk within 10 feet of a woman..and get overpowered by her perfume..nasty!

the number one pet peeve for me, and this gets me so f'n mad: KEEP YOUR MOTHAT FUCKIN EYES TO YOURSELF! I can't stand it when i catch some kid muggin me through the mirror or some shit, look away you bitch. I don't care what the reason is, it is rude to constantly stare at someone and shoot mean mugs at them. The only reason I try to ignore it is b.c I try not to start fights at teh gym but it has gotten bad before with certain people.

maybe he thinks you'z a sexy biatch!
:)
Maybe he just wants to look like the gr81!
heh heh....

of course that is the case, but there is a time and place and if that bitch can't look away he'll catch a dumbell to da face..;)

I can just see that..
"Hey! Hold...THIS!"
wack!

The gym owner....the big, genetically gifted bastard.
I'm usually in there busting my old, rusty ass, slinging around as much as I can handle, and what's Dorian doing? Maintaining. Always maintaining. Jerk.:grumble:

J/K...he's really a cool guy.

talking to me while i'm doing a set, i mean wtf, normally i can ignore them, but when i'm not in a good mood, your ass is grass when i put down the weight!!!!:attitude: :flipoff2: :box: :attitude:

I've got a couple that I just recently acquired,

signing out and reserving cardio equipment. They make you sign out cardio equipment here and if you are not signed on one somebody can easily get you kicked off by saying that they are signed out. Also I have noticed that they are getting signed up in advance. This really pisses me off as people sign them up, and half the time they don't show up, but it's expected that nobody uses them incase they DO happen to show. what a stupid fucking idea  I say if it's empty, then use the damn thing, if not, don't.

Also, guys who rack the weights up and can't even do one by themselves, but have their buddy constantly jerking the weight for them. I just think that's stupid.

My old gym had the cardio signup system, with a lineup. When you walked into the place you put your name and the time you signed up on the sheet...if you had a bunch of people ahead of you, you could go off and do something and then come back when you were next in line. If the person(s) ahead of you didn't respond fast enough (within a couple of callouts), they got erased. It worked way better than allowing people to sign up hours ahead of time.
