Great routine, followed it a while back.
 
HIT is a great style, it doesn't get the credit it deserves anymore with most people doing crazy amounts of volume just like back in the day. Just my 2 cents but only the one working set should be to failure. His style of HIT usually calls for a warmup set or two not to failure with one all out set. Warmup sets should be slightly challenging but not enough to take away from the working set.
 
What kind of results did you get,and for how long did you follow it?

Followed it for a about 4-5 weeks. Results, I won't say phenomonal but if done properly you will feel every workout.
if yates indeed followed this routine he had it down to a T for his body. After about 4 weeks we started tweaking the routine to fit our needs and wants (as if we know better than the boss).

The key with the success of this routine is pushing PAST what you can do, otherwise the very few working sets you do will leave you feeling quite dissatisfied.

For example, if it calls for 12 reps, make sure you use a weight that is so heavy that you can only do 9 reps and it takes 110% of your determination to do that, and then your spot forces you to get the other 3 reps. Which is just an agonizing process. There comes into play a huge honesty factor here and a determination to drive past your comfort zone.

That's the only problem I don't have a lifting buddy to spot me so I just add In a extra set to failure.
 
That works for the most part. Even without a partner there is ways around it on some exercises with stuff like rest pause and drop sets. Forced reps are out of the question in most cases without a partner which is too bad cause they are great for upping the intensity.
 
I seen that workout on BB.com but never got around to try it.
 
ive been doing it for 3 weeks and find it awesome. i feel smashed and it doesnt take up much time. I dont have a training partner so i push to where i fail on the contraction side and either cheat to go to failure on the negatives. if i cant cheat with my form i will do a drop set straight after.
 
can still train H.I.T style on your own dude^^^ and OP what u meen only last 45 mins lmao how long do you usally work out for..
