Jim Everett was a frikkin pussy though. KING of the phantom sack!

"Uh oh, is that wind!? I better just take the sack."

Hahaha, is there a critical video somewhere of him? I never saw him play, only saw him on the Rome clip.

Following the 1989 regular season, Everett was reportedly "shellshocked" from the multiple times he was sacked and was hit during the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers (the 49ers won, 30-3). At one point in the game, Everett was so rattled that he collapsed to the ground in the pocket merely in anticipation of yet another sack, even though the 49ers' defensive players actually had not yet reached him ??? a play thereafter known as Everett's "phantom sack". Everett thereafter tended to shy away from hits, and later acknowledged that his confidence was never fully restored.

He wasn't retired at the time of the Jim Rome incident. Retired in '97

He called him Chris, referring to Chris Evert (not Everett), one of the best female tennis players in history. Whether you like Jim Everett or not, Rome proved he was and still is, a fucking pussy.

Jim Rome should be put in a bubble and released in the middle of Iraq. We'll then see what a big man he.

Thing is the way Rome went about antagonizing Everett was beyond childish.

"Say it again and see what happens"

"OK............Chris!"

Bang! Pow! Crunch!

I remember that game, if there was a clip I think some people would understand.

Yeah I looked but no luck, if someone knows of one please post

Knight is a jerk off. Always has been. I cant believe someone would want to play for him! Hes lucky he hasnt gotten his ass kicked yet. I for one have a short fuse and it wouldve taken one time and he would be laying on his back lookin directly at the ceiling.

I have the utmost respect for Bobby Knight AND his coaching style. He demands respect, doesn't bend or take any shit from the media, administration, or his team. If I was being recruited out of HS I would highly consider playing for him Double D. And as far as you knocking out your own coach, you would never play organized basketball again. Knight is a supremely intelligent man who is extremely knowledgeable in the sport from past experiences. I would jsut shut up and listen to him.

Remember this, to get respect you must give respect! And whenever a man disrespects me like that then he shall get it right back. I have never loved a sport as much to swallow my pride and take an act of disrespect like that. A man that would do such a thing does not deserve respect. You may respect him, but as for me hes a piece of shit. His actions in the past have been bullshit and something needs to be done about this piece of shit. Hitting your own players is busch at its best! What a bitch!

Heres a question for all: What if Knight got slapped by one of his players for arguing with them? Would the school let it go and say it was ok? Whats the difference.....

You would hear the media and fans say he had it coming. :)

Hitting your coach is like a catholic fighting the Pope.

Heres a question for ya.....if the player were to hit knight back what wouldve happened? I am not so concerned at what wouldve happened to the player as I am at what wouldve happened to Knight? I mean if there was retaliation I think Knight wouldve even lost his job. Every action there a reaction and in that scenario the reaction would have been much greater in that instance.

No, not if the player initiated the contact. Better get your lipstick on though Double D, Knight "wants to be buried upside down so all of his critics can kiss [his] ass." :booty:

Ya heard that quote 100 times. And all the bullshit that comes along with him. He needs to be careful, one of these times he will go to far and his name wont be associated with the best coaches of all time. Instead he will be talked about like another guy who couldnt pull it all together. Sure he is a great basketball coach, but hes a punk as well. I can guarantee you that he would never think about putting his hands on someone off of the court because he would without a doubt get his beat down that he deserves.

You should watch a sit down interview of him or a documetnary on him or something. He's very smart, funny, and suprisingly calm and collected off the court. On the court he demands respect and gets it. The kid was zoning out and he gave him a love tap.

Bobby Knight is not smart or funny. I speak the truth.

A smart guy would be self disciplined enough to keep his hands to hiself. Like what has already been previously said if the shoe wouldve been on the other foot the kid would never play again. Knight is a bitch and thats a fact. I highly doubt he would do anything like this away from the protection of the people at the gym.

It's obvious he wouldn't. Like I said, he's calm off the court. He's about to pass Adolph whats his face for 2nd all time in college wins. I call the smart, you call that a bitch.

tomato, tomahto :p

Excellent basketball coach. It just strikes me as ironic that he expects his players to be disciplined, not make stupid mistakes, and play within their emotions, yet he throws these tantrums. He's so screwed up that he was driven out of his dream job in a place where he was worshiped, even though he is one of the top coaches in the country.

Like I said, he has certain philosophies and a coaching style that works, he doesn't bend or waver on either of those. If that causes some people to hate is style and requires him to move to a diff school, so be it. Indiana never should have gotten rid of him, the final straw was a joke.

I think the Indiana situation was a little more than a "so be it" to him.

I thought so originally, but I think you could notice the change after the choking incident where he realized people were gonna come at him now, and the AD and him were already on beyond bad terms w/ each other. I think he knew he'd be gone from Indiana sooner than later, and decided to stick to his guns instead of, the key word, bending.
