Has anyone seen that he is still hitting out everything? He is 5 for 6 with 4 homers in two games.

He's amazing. I think it's a matter of getting pitches to hit. If they pitch to him i think he could hit 75 or 80. I really believe that.

I wonder what his cycle consist of?
j/k lol

does anyone care anymore?? to me baseball has become nothing more than a homerun derby and I'm getting tired of it. every year somebody is breaking the HR record of the past year. give me a break.

Bigger, stronger, faster. Is evolution of the athlete. Thought people of a bodybuilding site would appreicate that. With all that said, baseball blows. It's just too boring.

I believe that is the secret. No way he can be that much stronger than anyone else in the majors without taking something. They need to test him. If he test positive for steriods they need to kick him out! And baseball is a great game! Just like any others though they get paid too much!

But hitting home runs is not all about strength. I would bet he is not even one of the strongest men in MLB.

It's all about bat speed! And how do you think he gets speed?? Strength!!!!!!!

something has obviously changed in the last few years that makes baseball players better hitters. is the player just that much better than those of so many years before him? how could that be? how one able to hit that many HRs now and not even 10yrs ago? is it the ball, the pitchers, are the players that much stronger? I dunno but when a player can hit a HR a almost every AB it looses my interest and that in part is why I don't watch baseball anymore.

Well I know that he gets bat speed from strength but he has a natural swing that helps him generate great bat speed. Bat speed is not soley based on strength.

I am a big Barry Bonds fan. I don't care how much of a jerk the guy is, he's a sensational player. I hope he hits 80 homers this year, although I think 50 is more realistic.

I think the increase in home runs as a whole is due to several factors: Diluted pitching talent among 30 teams (that's why mediocre pitchers earn $10 million a year), hitters are more patient now at the plate and wait for their pitches, hitters are bigger and stronger than ever before.

and hitters crowd the plate while wearing armor.

'Tis true. Look at those contraptions that Barry Bonds and Mo Vaughn wear on their arms. Frickin' football players and NHL goaltenders wear less padding! :D

I agree with you on this. But look at Ken Griffey Jr. I think he has the sweetest swing of anyone and he is a great homerun hitter. But nothing compared to Bonds now!! And even years ago Bonds was a homerun hitter but not like he is now! He has gained an enormous amount of strength from something and somewhere! I think Mark Mcguire was at fault to. I'm just to supicious just as Seyone said!! Hell, it's got to the point now, it is not weather Bonds will hit one or not, but how far it will go!!!!!

Barry Bonds

Bonds is my favorite ball player, long before he even acheived the record. Batters are just learning to play smarter for the longest time they thought they could just show up for spring training and expect to be an exceptional ball player. Look at how many hitter's are looking for ways to gain strength and speed to improve their swing. Mark Mc Gwire took supplements and and trained harder in the gym to help him improve his swing. Most batters are starting to realize they need more than to just swing a bat and hope for the best.

All the supplements in the world will not improve your hand-eye coordination, which is the most important thing needed to hit a baseball. Sure, McGwire used andro and creatine. So what. If he didn't, he'd only hit 490 foot homers instead of 520 footers.

Bonds is really a big guy now. His traps seem to be pretty big. He could have juiced, the all knowing media claim that gear use is rampant in the majors. I say even if that's true so what.

Bonds is also using a different type of wood not the usual oak. Made by someone who just thought of making them using a particular wood recently. There was an article on it about half a year ago. Notice his bats hardly ever break.

McGwire also hit 50 plus HR's in what 4 consective years? I think I remember reading that from 1988 until his injuries plagued him he hit 40 plus a year. No one else has a record like that and this was well before "over the counter" supplemets like Andro was available.

Like the Baboon said.. diluted pitchers and the fact that teams play each other more often now than they did years back.

I was rather upset that Bonds beat Marks record. I preferred the the way Mark represnted MLB and overall as a person he is a great role model...

Went to Giants game last night, Bonds hit in winning run. What a great game.:)

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that the pitching is generally weaker that in the past. IMO. You can't just keep adding a few teams every year and not dilute the pool. Pitchers especially... how many young arms are done before they get out of high school or college? I don't think the top pitchers are allowing many more dingers than before..... are they??
