Bought some chicken quarters at $0.79. Bullshit. In reality it was $4.50/lb

So I bought about 5 1/2 lbs of chicken leg quarters 2 days ago. Big fuckers too. At $0.79 a pound. So I got my food scale out and decided to do a little test. I trimmed about 1 lb of fat off of all 4 together. I cooked the chicken, 2 leg quarters. I weighed them at 14.5 ounces for both together on the scale. Then I fucking ate them. Cleaned all the bones up. Put them back on the scale. 7.3 ounces....so I got 7.2 ounces of chicken with 2 jumbo leg quarters.

Times that by 2 you get about 15.5 ounces of chicken for $4.33. That's fucking right. With the skin and bones and juice that came out....I paid about $4.50/lb for leg quarters. I'm 10% Jewish guys. That really fucking pissed me off. I could have just bought the boneless chicken breast for $2.99/lb and saved some money and got more food for my buck.

It just isn't worth it to fuck around with these cuts with bones. You are paying out of your ass. So if you are at the Supermarket and you see this shit. Honestly just go for the chicken breast if it is even $3.99 a pound you are going to save money compared to buying the "cheaper" cuts with bones in them.

Do the test yourself. I know I weighed the chicken quarters after I cooked them. But if you think about it boneless skinless chicken breast does not give out a lot of juice. So it is a proper comparison in my eye.

Just buy the BS chicken as I call it. It's a better deal
 
Ground turkey ground chicken . Or chicken breast if your feeling fancy. Shit chicken quarters are way to much of a pain in the ass to eat anyway
 
the real test is to weigh your dookie and see how much chicken made it thru protein sysnthesis and how much was just pooped out
 
no shit...sometimes I look at myself with all this fucking protein and junk I buy. I mean I just finished 15lbs of good to high quality protein I spent $150 on in about 45 days. I just look at myself and think...."where the fuck did it go?" I mean my strength went up. My fat% went down a little. But wtf? It's like I'm using $10 a fucking lb protein just to fight catabolism.

THen I do the math on this fucking 5 lbs of chicken..... Almost $5 a fucking lb for chicken leg/thigh quarters. I mean when I got home and trimmed them. THere where these big balls of skin/fat tucked under all of them.

Like...you motherfuckers. This was at Jewel in the midwest by the way. You guys might get better properly trimmed chicken. These fuckheads really took me for a ride with that chicken.

I just use a bunch of tasty sauces on all my meat with a shit ton of kale and white rice. I'll smoke some crack meth clen combo when its time to cut
 
Check the freeezer. I found frozen turkey breast for 1.59 a pound. Boiled it and picked all the meat off only lost about 20% from fat and a few bones. Killer deal! I bought like 6 of them and filled my freezer. You can find trimmed chicken breast for 2.99 a pound you just have to shop around a little.
 
Boneless, skinless thighs. Less than breasts and don't dry out as much when cooking.

Call me insensitive but WTF is with jewel hiring every mentally challenged person they can find. I'm legit in line and this girl with down syndrome is bagging and talking. Actually just talking causing this log jamb. And the teenage cashier couldn't handle the situation. Finally the Mgr came and moved her.
I'm not an asshole but god damn move her to the express line where she half the time she doesn't bag shit anyway.
Or put her in the damn tfci bank. They have no idea what they are doing. She would Excell and be the district manager in a month.

The BS thighs usually cost almost as much as the breast. If you pound out chicken breast fairly flat about 1/2 inche so it cooks even. It will not dry out. 6-7 minutes per side and you have perfectly cooked BS breast. I do love barbeque thighs though. They are great for grilling. Yeah dark meat is great for grilling.

It's funny they don't use DS people over here towards the city DJ. I think they use them out west suburbs where they think the people are more forgiving. No DS kids here just a lot of WT.

Here's 2 chef tricks for you to insure it not drying out.

1. Poach the chicken until it is literally falling apart about an hour. then turn off the fire and let it sit in the broth until its cool enough to handle. The cooling chicken will relax and absorb the broth keeping it tender. Then save the broth to cook your rice and add back to your chicken when you eat it, dry chicken problem solved. Also the extended cook time removes any and all fat from the already lean chicken breast as long as you skim it off.

2. Brine your chicken breasts before you cook them. Simply put enough salt in water to make it almost like the ocean, then add enough sugar or honey, agave nectar whatever so you can taste the water being slightly sweet and salty. put in your raw chicken breasts and let them sit overnight. Then cook them however you want. Even grilling the shit out of them they will still be juicy and tender. Works on pork too. Also you can add some flavors to the brine like garlic, pepper, mustard, bay leaves ect. I do a jerk pork and chicken where i put green onions, garlic, allspice and scotch bonnet peppers, and a little A1 or Worcestershire sauce.

I can deduct you guys are form the Midwest particularly Chicago area. My old stomping ground. Last winter was the final straw. its 80 and sunny everyday in So Cal now:)
 
I slice my breasts in half and stab with a fork a few times, turn on the broiler in my oven, pour some beer over them and then stick them in for 10 minutes, then I take the pan out flip, baste with more beer and 10 minutes more then they are done.....sometimes I sub Balsamic Vinegar for the beer...especially if I plan on an italian dish....
