I have discomfort that limits my ability to do hammer curls and chins. It has improved since I quit doing chins about a month ago. However it is still somewhat uncomfortable for me to do hammer curls. Has anyone else ever had a problem like this, and what was your experience and recovery time like? Thanks for you input. :thumb:

like tendonitis?

yeah, I have that right now. Don't do them if it hurts. Seriously, replace hammer curls with regular db curls and do underhand grip chinups....let that area heal, and these other exercises are very close to the same thing.

don't get overzealous and try to work it too soon, it will just set you back to square one, trust me I know. My arm felt great, so I attempted hammer curls again yesterday, and now the same area is messed up again, so it really takes time.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like we definately have the same problem. How long have you been dealing with this problem? What type of things have you done to help it along? Other than rest. It has only effected my left arm so I am looking very lopsided.:bawling:

It's been bothering me since the beginning of September. Other than complete rest there really isn't anything you can do. you can ice it a few times every day, which is what I do, and try using glucosomine/chondroitin and or lots of Vitamin C or omega 3 oils (there is research to indicate fish oil or other omega 3s can help with inflammation, which is technically what tendonitis is).

If you don't want to just rest it, then you need to work around it, which is pretty much what I do, but then like I said, when it feels good, I get a little ansy and tempt fate and try an exercise like a hammer curl or side laterals, and then I wind up bothering it again, and it sets me back another week with it.
