Brown Rice Pasta

Whats the word on brown rice pasta?

I got some brown rice pasta elbows from this company http://www.tinkyada.com/ProList.htm at the grocery store today. Looked good enough, haven't tried it yet though.

:shrug: Looks ok. They do not give you a breakdown of nutritional profile, but I am sure it would be about 99% carbs. The addition of the rice bran would probably increase the fibre too (which would decrease the glycaemic index/load as well).

We get something similar over here only it is whole rye-grain pasta.

If you are happy eating pasta and if it fits into your daily requirements (and as long as it is not your only source of carbohydrates) then it is fine.

the ingredients on mine says: stone-ground brown rice, rice bran and water.

since this is essentially just brown rice in pasta form would it be just as acceptable as eating regular brown rice or would the processing of the ground rice change things?
 
Nutrition profile (in terms of cals/carbs etc) looks very similar to brown rice.

The processing will alter things like vitamins/minerals found in the whole grain...But you'll probably find the GI is ok (wholewheat pasta has a low GI - so I would imagine this also would).

As I said - if you eat pasta then it should be fine. Just calculate for it in your totals.
