I didnt watch the game, but i caught the highlights on ESPN and my dad told me about it. Only in Cleveland can something like this happen. Here is the article if anyone wants to read it:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/news/2001/12/16/jaguars_browns_ap/

They were showing clips on ESPN last night, and some of them were of the ref getting pelted with plastic beer bottles as he ran off the field. I honestly think it is funny as hell, even though it makes Cleveland fans look like a bunch of asses. How i would have loved to be at that game.

If ya read the article and got to the part about where fans ripped up bleacher seats and set them on fire in 1997--its true, because i was there. Bleachers being ripped up, trash being thrown on the field, people running on the field. In fact, by the end of the game, they had three rings of security arround the field to keep people from running on. Only in Cleveland.

I saw the highlights on ESPN. Well, if I was a Browns fan, I'd be pissed about what happened on the field too. However, I would not throw beer bottles at the refs, then at my OWN TEAM. So many fans think they can do anything they want at sporting events.

So very true. This stuff went on because just about everyone who sits in the famed Dawg Pound gets there at like 9 and 10 AM and tail gate. Some of the extremests get up there the night before and party in the flats (bar/nightclub district next to the stadium) and then sleep in their campers/cars and get up and start drinking before the game. Seems like the colder the weather the drunker the fans.

Cleveland--Would never want to live there, but it always nice to visit.

Saw the game and it wasn't fair what the refs did, but after what the fans did I am sorry to say that I am glad they did loose.. :( What happened to them wasn't right, but the fans should not have thrown bottles at them.. Tasteless...

Funny, that game influenced the the Saints fans on Monday Night. The refs blew some calls in that one too.
