I cut out dairy a few weeks ago. Just wondering what everyone does for calcium? I have some of those Viactiv calcium chews, but I don't take them as I should.

Calcium tablets, with calcium CITRATE and HYDROXYAPITATE as the two main forms of calcium.
Take the equivalant of 1000mg/day of calcium. Spread it throughout the day - but don't take it near meals that have lots of fibre or supplements with lots of iron.
Increase other good sources of calium too, eg: -
salmon (with bones/skin)
Almonds
legumes (kidney beans) - limited value because of the fibre binding it in the gut.
green leafy vege (broccoli/kali etc)- limited value because of the oxalates binding it in the gut.
Tofu
i heard tums have calcuim in then...the doctor and my mom told me i should pop a few of those a day for calcium (since i'm 16 and "still growing" they say) ...so will tums work also?

It has recently been proven that simply taking calcium will not promote strong teeth and bones. In order to promote strong bones, proper diet (with supps if needed) coupled with adequate weight training is needed. Just popping pills wont do much if at all anything to strengthen bones.
