i am 15 6'3 290 pounds. this is what the coach measured btw so it probably a bit off. im sure i way around 270 and idk about height probably 6'2. well anyway next year is my sophmore year and i really wanna try linebacker. the thing is i am slow my 40 was 9 seconds but at the time i kinda jogged it cuz i was doing everything half-assed. but im willing to work hard to become a defensive back. when i was younger i was like super fast for my size. i was faster than all the kids my age but then around 12 i started gaining weight and became a fatass. i have lost like 30 pounds and thats if i weight 290. so anyway i wanna play linebacker instead of d-line? or should i just go for what i know and stick with d-line? and how can i become faster? idk if this is the right section.

If you have to even ask the question, the answer is no.
You are built to be a lineman. Be a lineman, and be a good one. Be thankful there is a sport were a fatass is considered valuable.

So which is it, defensive back or linebacker? Your post says you want to be both. They are two different positions. I don't think a 290 pound defensive back exists anywhere.

And you can't be either with a NINE SECOND 40. That's slower than walking speed. Cripes, slow guys still come in under five seconds.

Lift, eat like a mad man and stay in those trenches - either offensively or defensively.

yeah its already been said....but 270-290 is way too big for a defensive back...you need to lose a lot of weight and you better also be fast as hell....

If your coach measured you then he's probably right about your measurements. You still have time if you started now to get some valuable play time in High School and Jr. College. You would need to start cutting right now, mad cardio, NEVER skip legs while working out a balanced routine. It's all based on you and your dedication. If you don't have the motivation now then you need to get used to three and four point stances.
