Cardio Kickboxing Questions

Hi, I participate in a cardio kickboxing class twice a week at my local Karate studio. My first question is this, during 30 minutes of cardio kickboxing twice a week, Tues and Thurs, should I be using small handweights (2lbs each at this point)? I think I have seen an improvement in movement, cardio fitness, and strength, and Im happy doing it. Is this considered lifting weights? (I do work rather hard and fast) and if Im doing cardio kickboxing can I also lift weights on off days? (Mon, Wed, Fri.) should I be lifting on those off days or should I be lifting on the days I do cardio kickboxing? Im basing this schedule on the assumption that the greatest results come from lifting every other day. Is this also true? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions :)
