I've gained a good amount of mass(relative to my frame) from doing a little weights and a lot of martial arts(kicking/punching, etc.) My chest has increased in size- except for where my "boobies" meet......
If you tap it there, you can hear a hollow, bone on bone sound- because you ARE tapping bone.
How can I increase the muscle mass on the "center" of my chest using only free-weights and plyometric exercises?

Thank you!

Thanks!

I do those once or twice a week... Anything else?

your humor evades me....

What about dips, "diamond" pushups, pushups with my upper body raised to a different level than my feet? Hook-punches on a heavy bag?

be creative.

What Maki is saying is that you can't focus on a particular "section" of muscle. You can't shape a muscle.Shape is pre-determined by genetics. All you can really do is increase the size and strength of a muscle through training and increase definition through diet.

Make sure you have good Range of Motion (ROM), this always helps.

I know exactly what he means, I just didn't want to open that can of worms again. :)

I believe that you can "emphasize/target" a muscle group with different exercises. I do not believe you can change the shape of a muscle.

You CAN target different portions of a muscle and therefore maximize the size and shape of that muscle. You can't play with your genetic code for shape, but without hitting your muscles from different angles you will never fully bring out the shape that your genetics will allow.

With that...best exercises for inner chest are..cable crossovers(utilize different angles), pec deck, "flye machine," and cable flyes...cables are superior to dumbell flyes for INNER chest because there is still tension as you bring the cables together, unlike with dumbells.

Thanks!

I'll try to make my own cable/pulley system somewhere around here......

Good point on the tension comparision of free weights and the cable systems.

Finally, someone that agrees with me on this. :)

prince/gopro hit it on the head, make sure that you contract/squeeze the muscle at the end of every rep, good luck:D :thumb:

Prince...I know there are a few people on another site that disagree about the issue of different angles, but, acccording to my research and my experience training hundreds of people, I am convinced in the necessity of different exercises/angles to fully develop a muscle. I, myself, am constantly analyzing my physique for weak points, and adjusting my training accordingly.
