No, but if you are a a high-profile figure in a political party that has stood for small government, low taxes & strong defense.. and all of a sudden you throw your support behind a competitor who defies every one of these principles, something is amiss.

Herein lies the problem:

The GOP abandoned these positions on issues. But their own actions.

The GOP abandoned small government, and low taxes.

A Republican today, could not have been a Republican in 1994, IMO. Many disagree with me on this. They say the "party has gone astray," or "has changed."

They are right.

The GOP cannot argue for small government, and low taxes again after the last 8 years.

They may send the message. Some of the masses will believe it. But many of the populace will not.

If someone wants details on how the GWB & GOP abandoned small gov and low taxes forever, please ask.

I agree with you on many of your points. I'm hoping they go back to their conservative roots. As such, Powell shouldn't be included.

Any kind that has its members voting & campaigning for a liberal democrat.

If the GOP goes back to their conservative, I agree that Powell wouldn't be in the picture.

But I really don't think the GOP can go back to the "conservative roots" (meaning the classical conservative or sometimes called the "paleo-conservative)"

The days of tax cuts and "small government" (the latter was always a myth) are indeed over.

The situation the US is in economically (and it's THAT bad) is the result of decades of short-term thinking and the lack of will to confront the fiscal issues.

Insolvency. Bankruptcy.

I love how all these people who bash Limbaugh's pain medication addiction seem to forget the our President openly admits to "trying any drugs I (he) could get his hands on." I don't give him a pass, but it's just a cheap shot.

I don't think anyone bashes his use of the drugs, it's the fact that he's a hypocrite. It's one thing to be addicted to drugs, it's quite another to be addicted to drugs and host a radio show that lampoons other people for doing the same thing you are behind closed doors.

At the end of the day, you know they (Politicians) have all done some form of drug, it's just whether or not you want to be lied to about it.

I never complained about Bush, Clinton nor Obama now about what drugs they took.

We all have a past... really, I am sure my parents did something.

I don't like him at all, it seems that everything out of his mouth is a negative.
