Cool Band I Discovered

If you like the Mars then check out Fantomas who probably inspired The Mars Volta. It's one of many projects by Mike Patton.

Oh and De-Loused owes alot of awesomeness to Flea playing bass and Rick Rubin producing.

Fantomas are fucking immense.

Listening to "Delirium Cordia" all the way through in a darkened room, pissed up, with a few other people was one of the most tripped out experiences of my life.

Mike Patton = Genius.
70+ Minute single-track concept albums = Awesome.

Mars Volta used to have song on the radio. Check out At the Drive In that was the lead singers and some other band members old band before Mars Volta. They made 4 albums. Ugh I forget the name of At the Drive In's latest album. Download the song "One-Armed Scissor".

I've been listening to Mars Volta for a while, they are good shit. They do alot of stuff with John Frusciante and Flea.

Bump for Bumpings sake...whoever the hell he is...???

I saw a clip where Cedric of Mars Volta made some racist comments, I stopped listening since then.

Haha, exactly. Plus, I don't have to like you as a person to listen to your music, I just have to enjoy your music.

Yes, many people seem to think that one's personality interferes with the quality of one's products.

Michael Jackson might have touched kids => his music sucks.
Bill Clinton had an affaire with Monica Lewinsky => he can't be a president.

Stuff like that.

Anyway, I don't like the music. It's too vague and not heavy enough for me. :)

Well he said it on stage towards the crowd and used his time to perform and play sing to make nasty comments, not a fan. People pay to you see you play music, not insult them. IMO, it was uncalled for and it really turned me off. However, I didn't know the whole situation. Maybe I'll start listening to them again, I do have one of their albums.

I saw the Mars Volta open for the RHCP today. Honestly, it was really shitty. They played for an hour straight, no breaks, but the sound was incredibly scrambled and it was very hard to pick out any instruments from that mess of a sound. I wanted to go to sleep, I was super-unimpressed with them. I thought their latest album was alright, they had some good shit - but the show was horrid. Props to the drummer though for playing a fucking hour of hard banging.

Maybe they are better headlining.

I've heard they aren't that good live. It's unfortunate.

Foreman: Hello Sunshine
Girl: hello.
Foreman: your fat, wanna go to a hotel and burn some extra calories?
Girl:yes..can my seven kids fi in your car?
Foreman: WTF? *punches her in the gut and jumps behind a bush*

:funny:

I went in to late to see them open for the Peppers, but I saw them at the Roseland last summer, it was a great show, and I'm not a huge fan. But, Pink Floyd, :finger: I saw Roger Waters at Providence 5 years ago... Best show I've ever seen hands down.

It might have been better if I was closer up, I was off to the side of the stage up higher. The stage lights were right in my eyes so all I had was the music, and it sucked.
