That was pretty nice, that guitar was singing.

Reminds me of Pink Floyd (David Gilmore)

That was like an orgasm that still left me with blue balls.

I waited forever for him to start ripping and then he really stopped short. One more year and I hope he fixes that... too moody and repetetive early on. Great skills and talent, needs more time in the oven for me.

None of this is a putdown for anyone that might take it that way.

This looks like him doing drums n bass?
YouTube - Drums and Bass - Amis?

the shred was meaningless.
i could do a better job. there was no emotion.

and for the rest hardly any change of key or change of play style. It was always a drop back 6.5/10 but it was alright

Well here's his utube channel

Check it out, might like something.

I think the flow to the solo was off and out of sync or too fast for the mood of the song. I was playing with his lick earlier tonight and played around with some exotic scales intertwined which really sweetened it. If he had cut the part between the initial melody and the melody with the trills and a tad fewer frills there it would harmonize better, then do the solo with some sweeping gypsy sounding scale play it would all piece together perfectly........

Everybodies a critic !

Just like women, music is subject to ones own taste, and everyones own interpretation of what they find pleasing. It's not like the theory of biholomorphic functions.

The kid has a talent, and a beautiful talent it is. Nothing a little spit and polish won't fix.

Ok, It's a open challenge, Critic's post your own piece as a response to the kids talent.

Why critics just criticize if they think they know so much about it then they should exhibit there own skills n talent.

Like ironaddict said "Just like women, music is subject to ones own taste, and everyones own interpretation of what they find pleasing."

Isn't that why he is posting at YouTube w/ Comments Enabled? As a young musician he should know that he should be getting as much input from others so he can learn. Kids are really lucky these day's that they can do a quick video of whatever hobby they have and post it up and get instant feedback from hundreds of people, plus they can watch the thousands of other video's and learn. When I started I had to listen to a song and learn to play it through trial and error. The only critics I had were the handful of guys in my neighborhood with whom I jammed with.

I agree, but to me what you just said is criticism too (spit and polish implies incompleteness). No harm in that, I didn't drag his work through the mud - but it feels like a couple riffs put together and turned into an entire 'song.' Great talent, more polish needed.

It doesn't take a world of Steve Vais to buy albums from Joe Satriani in order to appreciate it and determine if it has marketability or not, some people may be 100% satisfied with this guys current work and think its just top notch. Like you said, tastes differ and thats what makes things interesting, we dont all listen to the same stuff - that would be sickening.

Oh Smudgie, I wasn't looking to single you out. Perhaps my word selection wasn't the best choice, easy dude.

I know the kid ain't no Vai or Satrianai, he isn't going to be selling any units anytime soon. I was just trying to say that his playing of the two different inst. was just amazing, that's all. I agree with it not being as smoooth as some we've heard, but that's where the spit and polish comes in.

Now, cool your jets before I give Nancy Pelosi a call, and tell her to pay you a visit!

Could do with some appergios too and more hammers

YouTube - Joe Satriani - Starry Night (G3 live in Denver)

I like this because it's varied, has a structure with a good climax, with some soft playing leading up to it which amplifies its effect. It has a theme and he's intertwining the major and minor scales for the note he's playing in, which is key to an emotional song. He needs to wrap the notes too

it's my favorite to play so much emotion yet simple so you can "feel" the music as you play! so good. and my main genre i listen to is rap hip hop n basslines but songs like that really jazz me

i like this better....look up "Buckethead whitewash live" on youtube

OKay after slating mattrach I think it's time to mention something good. He is an awesome guitarist. He can put alot of emotion into a song. Thats partly why I criticised him so heavily because I know he can do much better, like this cover of For the love of God:
YouTube - For the Love of God

beautiful

Ps love that ibanez but I am not good enough yet to even contemplate buying one.

I plan on doing the Youtube thing in a little while. I decided to start over fresh on guitar and pretend to be a beginner. I want to erase 15+ years of bad habits. I try to get 3-4 hours a night in at the very least 1 hour no matter what. I am leaving no style or technique unexplored. I switch from my WesMont thumb I alway's used, to finger style to using a pick. I am learning more chords and the actual building of them and the scales. I figure after I get the skills down the right way I can revert to my old instinctual by ear playing I taught myself and play much better...... I'd eventually like to play a coffee shop or small club a couple weekends a month.......

I'm not booty hurt, I know it was a couple of us.

I really like a low action playing guitar, you might find you play more often if you get yourself one that is really nice.

I tuned my Acoustic down a half step and now I can't put it down. I also put some Elixir Nanoweb Light Phosphors on & it feels like I'm petting an Egyptian Cotton Snake.....
