Corinth man sentenced in steroids case

BALLSTON SPA -- A 23-year-old Corinth man arrested last year with a large amount of steroids was sentenced to six months in county jail and five years of probation on Monday.

Joshua B. Arnold, of 231 Main St., was arrested in April 2010 after police found him with what was then believed to be $100,000 worth of chemicals and equipment used to make steroids during a search of a hotel room he was renting in Saratoga Springs. Police later estimated the drugs were valued at $225,000.

Arnold was indicted in August 2010 on three felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He faced as much as seven years in prison.

Arnold pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison, on Jan. 31.

Officials with the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office could not be reached to discuss the sentencing.
