"Do not take creatine and glutamine together. They get transported to the muscle through the same process so they will cancel each other out. Take them a few hours apart and if you take the creatine with protein powder make sure the powder doesn't have glutamine added to it."

I read this statement on a recent article and I was wondering wether it was true.. since I take a post workout protein shake and I add Glutamine and Creatine.

I'm confused...

I never take them together absorption issues or not. I take glut twice a day early morning and b4 bed. Creatine, when I'm taking it, goes down 45 minutes b4 my workout.

That is not true as far as I know. Many people take them together!

Glutamine is best taken before and right after workout!

that is what I always thought too :p

I wish someone would tell me that what is written above is complete junk... because Glutamine and Creatine are both best taken Before and After the workout :(

I take them together as well, and when I am training super hard I take glutamine right before bed.

I also take them together right after a workout never before, and I have never had a problem feeling the results.

When reading information, do not even pay attention to it unless it has some sort of citation from a credible source. This is a general rule. Most people on the net spout off secondary information that they are just hearing from someone else. Name me one study where they looked to see through what mechanism glutamine or creatine is absorbed. Also, if someone says the research is beyond the scope of an article, chances are there is no supporting research or they are too lazy to go find it.

Don't get me wrong, if you ask someone their personal experience from something (Like if Creatine works) and they have been around for a while you can pretty much take them on their word. If they start giving you a scientific explanation, ask for sources.

I take glutamine and creatine. i was wondering what the best time would be to take them if i take them each twice a day. i always heard that you should take them an hour apart but both are supposed to be taken before and after your workout. what's the deal?

creatine for sure post workout.
Glutamine, in the morning on an empty stomach and before bed time.

Creatine...two opinions:

1) take immediately after training
2) take 30 minutes prior to training and again immediately after training

Glutamine:
1) best time is right after workout and if you can afford it take it throughout the day...first thing in the morning, before and after training, and before bed....take in 5 gram doses. As I saif that is if you can afford 20 grams per day...which many of us cannot.
