Hey guys.
Here are my stats.

5'10
23 yo
171 pounds
131 pounds lean muscle
39.33 pounds fat

Theoretically to get to 10% i will need to lose 23 pounds going by my figures above.

I have giving myself 8 weeks to lose 16 pounds.

1 - Going from 23%bf down hopefully to 10-14% possible in 8 weeks if following a strict diet calorie deficit and cardio ?

2 - I was reading that when bulking you can theoretically put on .5 pound of muscle per week so if i am at 155 in june i should be able to get to my goal of 185 pounds in a year theoretically right ?

Ps - Reason i am not bulking now is because i feel it would be better for me to lose this weight/gut instead of going all out bulking.

PS) I think you are making the right decision to cut. Bulks in general should start at lower bodyfat percentages.

1) I think losing 16 lbs of fat in 8 weeks is quite reasonable. It will require a strong deficit but it is doable. I suggest incorporating a week or two at maintenance in there. Try going for the first month. If you are stalling, take a week off and eat at maintenance. Then jump back into the diet. You want to plan ahead to circumvent inevitable stalls. If I were you I'd shoot for 13-15% bodyfat first then reevaluate. Getting to 10% might be easy or it might be a real challenge. Cross that bridge when you get there and see what is more important to you then.

2) If you are new to training or are willing to gain quite a bit of bodyfat to get there perhaps. More realistic might be 10+ lbs in a year. In any event, do all you can and hope for the best. Your hard work might get you a lot more than what speculate.

Your weight loss goals sound reasonable.

Post up what your diet looks like and what your training routine is.

What are your goals long term?
What was your diet like leading up to this?

How did you come up with 23% BF? I'm a bit skeptical of those numbers. It's not entirely possible but @ 5'10'' 171 I would think you're well below 20% BF. Just curious.

Agreed. I'm 5'11". When I was at 171(ish) I was below 12%BF.
You would have to exceptionally low muscle mass with alot of fat to be 5'10" 171 and in the mid 20%'s.
