Some players aren't formatted to play certain kinds of discs.

True, it gives you an option I believe to burn the CD in a format that fits the car, weightroom, and stereos. Of course it may just be the CD.

If the CD you just copied is RW, load the copied disc back into your computer and change the format and then burn it to RW/CD.

Next tome instead of making a copy, load it to your hard drive and then run it through musicmatch or whatever you have to change the format and then burn it

You probably burned the music in ISO 9660 format instead of formating it as "audio-cd"

makers like sony stop there players playing copied cds

same with dvds

Wrong.

The player can't tell if it's a copied cd/dvd or not, if you have it formatted appropriately.

Depends what formats the player is capable of playing. But it cannot tell the difference if you format it properly. For example you can use isobuster to extract music tracks from a "protected" cd (turn off auto run), by extracting the songs from within the app. You could also burn a working dvd that is copy protected using anydvd (with latest updates). Many cd's can be ripped without going through this process however.
