Dana Linn Bailey has been hospitalized with rhabdo

For many individuals in the bodybuilding and fitness community overtraining is at times regarded as a myth, an excuse for individuals to stop putting in serious work during their training. Many believe the notion of overtraining is from having a weak mind or spirit, but that couldn?t be farther from the truth.

In reality, overtraining can afflict just about anyone from the grizzled veteran to the beginner. In fact, overtraining can lead to a condition called rhabdomyolysis (rhabdo), a serious syndrome due to a direct or indirect muscle injury. Per WebMD:

?IT RESULTS FROM THE DEATH OF MUSCLE FIBERS AND RELEASE OF THEIR CONTENTS INTO THE BLOODSTREAM. THIS CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS SUCH AS RENAL (KIDNEY) FAILURE. THIS MEANS THE KIDNEYS CANNOT REMOVE WASTE AND CONCENTRATED URINE.?

It?s a pretty serious condition to say the least. Unfortunately for one of the fitness world?s most popular figures, Dana Linn Bailey, the syndrome has become a reality in her life she must face.

Dana Linn Bailey was recently hospitalized with rhabdo and is currently battling the syndrome. The former Women?s Physique Olympia champion has been engaging in crossfit training lately. Apparently Dana Linn Bailey pushed herself too hard, causing the rhabdo syndrome to develop. She took to Instagram to explain her current condition.
