are there any advantages to doing these on the floor over doing them on abench?
 
I agree with m11, if you're training your db bench lockout do them with dbs, if you're training your bb bench lockout use a bb. Great exercise though!
 
Trains more of the middle of the press than the lockout I would say, but yeah, they're a partial ROM movement best used to get past a sticking point in that part of the bench press.

As Gaz said, if you're training for your db bench then go for it.

Just note that if you're going for sub-maximal loads good luck getting the DBs up. On a bench you have room to kick the DBs in place, but on the floor you don't. I tried DB floor press for reps below 5 once and it was a bitch getting into position.

I think this lift is best reserved for BBs.
 
would you use it every week in your chest workout - or just every now and again!!!
