just out of curiousity, what weight does everyone use for these 2 exercises?

i use 60's on my own for DB press and 65's with a spot... and 50's on my own for military press and 55's with a spot... i know that's nothing lol but i'm just curious as to what everyone else uses cause i'm absolutely blown away when i see guys at the gym using 130-140 lb DB's for DB presses

Were talking delt stuff only? I think I am weak in that area, when I use a barbell I work with 185 for about 10 reps.

When I do incline dumbell presses after my flat benching I start with 95s.

what is the differnce between shoulder press and military press?? and how can you do military with dumbells? wouldnt that be dumbell press?

oops... am i confusing the two?

i'm talking about military press (shoulders) and whatever the technical term is for the DB press for chest...

Flat/decline/incline dumbell press.

big difference

ahh i understand.. i thought you were doing shoulder press with dumbells.. furthermore, dumbell press.... so are shoulder and military press the same thing? --- heres another question about dumbells/barbell.... it seems as i can bench (bar) or shoulder press (bar) nearly as much as some of my friends, but my bench (dumbell) and shoulder press (dumbell) are the same or even more... i can bench 165x6 and 65x6, and shoulder press 115x7 and 55 or 60x7 ... do these numbers seem comparable, or can i really do that much more weight, relative, using dumbells to barbell...

no, shoulder and military press are not the same thing..I'm sure there are pics on the internet that show you how to perform these exercises.

i cant figure out the difference- i looked them up quick and they seem exactly the same... assuming the websites are accurate... here is the military press site http://www.thepumpingstation.com/military.html
and the shoulder press
http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/DBShoulderPress.html

the only difference, one is using dumbellls and the other barbell.. and the barbell goes in front of your head and the dumbells are inline with your body .. so can someone clear this up for me?

The names are irrelevant. Call it what you want dumbell millitary press, shoulder press, overhead press, overhead presses in the frontal plane etc......Performing the movement properly is what counts.

I'm confused...what was the question again?

For incline db presses (chest), I use 80 lb db's
For db shoulder presses, I use 70 lb db's
I don't do barbell military presses (no rack at my gym for it)

I'm not up there with most people I see in the gym, but:

DB Press- 50 x 8-10 reps
MP Bar- 100 x 8 reps
Incline DB- 55 x 8- 10 reps

I try not to go lower than 8 reps because I lose form and tend to get tendonitis.
