Ok I have been dieting for 6 weeks now. I am still trying to figure out how many calories I should be taking in for my goal weight of around 200-210. I now weigh apx. 254, last weigh in was 2/23/08. Thats from 259.0.

I am now just trying to figure out my calorie intake. I am done doing points crap from WW It just seems easier to me from reading here to do by calories. Anyway I know im supposed to get at least 2400 cals in a day in order to start losing any amount of fat.

But here is the thing. I am still somewhat muscular so I dont want to lose any muscle in the process of losing fat. Which I know is hard to do. I am starting to write down all my cal. intake will post a sample menu next week. What do you all think? What should I eat for p/c/f? What is a good starting point?

Read some of the stickies.

I can't comment on your calorie level since I'm terrible at that, but for the sake of example I'll assume 2400 is correct.

If you figure you use a classic 20/40/40 split (fats, proteins, carbs respectively), it's fairly easy to figure out.

Remember, there are 4 cal/gram carb, 4cal/gram protein, 9cal/gram fat. So for example with protein, you would take 40% of your target calories which could be 2400*0.4=960 calories from protein each day. Since there are 4 cals/gram protein, you can figure that you need 960/4=240 grams of protein overall. Then just divide that number by however many meals you want.

No one can comment on your caloric requirments.

That is something you are going to have to experiment with. You could try starting at 2400. But there are too many factors, including your previous year of dieting with weight watchers.

Yeah I know but you cant blame me for wanting to do it right. I am willing to try my hardest. I even joined the gym where I am going to WW I am sure once I get started with one of there trainers they will tell me to stop WW all together.....

try to figure your bmr and go from there.

Ok I have another question. This is off topic but Since this is my thread I will just post it here. Was skeptical of posting anything else on this web site except for blogs in fear I might be called a fat ass again. Anyway just wanted anyones opinions about lifting. I know in order to make gains you must increse weight while you lift. Do you do this on your next workout? Do you Pyramid ie. 60,80,100 or negative, positive? I know its all what works best for you but some ideas would be good, thanks....
