do any of you guys do box squats??

No, there dangerous and I see no benefit from them, I'd recommend to anyone to stick with regular squats.

Dangerous because of the stress on your back if you "sit" or use the box to take any of the weight.

Why would you want to do Box Squats Walter? Just wondering.

there actually more of a bench squat I guess you could say, lay a bench down and squat tell your assss is on the bench wait a moment and proceed.

That's what I'm talking about, when you sit on the box it takes the weight off your legs and places it on your spine, that's bad, I think a regular squat with a pause at the bottom would be much better and would increase your "power" more than using the box method squat.

No matter how gently you touch your butt to the bench or box you are subjecting your spinal column to compression forces it should never be subjected to. If you need assistance stopping the downward movement of the bar you've got too much weight on it. Lighten the load and be safe with your spine.

Box squats are for sissies that can't hack real squats.

Suck it up man, if you can't do a set without taking a break every rep, maybe you shouldn't be in the gym.

slim jim??? settle down. doing box squats helps my overall strength. I do both types of squats. I actually have done many other types including 1/4 in highschool 1/2 and full, and also smith machines, but the smith sucks. Doing box squats you don't acutally stop and set on the bench, you touch and then proceed. Many of athletes use them, and well they work

there dangerous?? I don't think so, they build power, and are an excellent exercise for people who are looking for strength. Regular sqats are more dangerous than box squats lol/.

I'll refer to Prince's signature line to answer this one. In box or bench squats you are using a tool to guage the bottom point of the movement. This tool is dangerous because it can and does put undue stress on the spinal column. You can build greater strength in a safer manner by just doing your squats in front of a mirror and judging the bottom of your movement by sight.

Back when I first started doing squats I did them with light weight just to work on form. Doing a squat did not feel like a natural movement to me and having something behind me was a cruch. I wouldn't know why anyone would want to use them for anything else.
