Do downloading speeds have to do anything with CPU speed and Ram, or is it all about your internet connection?

Anywhere along the line there can and will be a bottle neck or 2...

Unless you are running a 386 on Windows 3.1, the bottleneck is most likely going to be the internet connection

What are your PC specs?

well I was talking about my psp, not PC... CPU speed is 333MHZ, and Ram is about 4MB LOL, but there is nothing else running while you download....

My pc is 448 ram, 991 MHZ, and Internet speed is about 1 megabyte per second

Should I disable my cache on the psp? I know the internet is fast, because it is about 8mbit cable, and than I use a wireless router to give wifi to my psp... So would it be beneficial to turn off the cache because there is such a low ram?

Also would it be beneficial to disable the cache on my pc since internet is so fast, but ram is low?

What OS?

Anywho, I use my psp internet occasionally as well and no it has nothing to do with the internet. Disabling cache will make it faster but not so much faster. The Psp will read slower then a normal psp thats because of asyou said 8mb cable, Now also keep in mind that websites tend to lag or stop working as fast due to high bandwidth use and all. So some sites could be slow just in general.

P.S: trying loading facebook on it lol takes forever.

Ah my bad.

Once the download is initiated, the major bottleneck will likely be the HD read/write speed or the RAM for a PSP, but either way it should still be plenty fast.

Loading webpages on the other hand will definitely be slower since it has to render all of the pictures and whatnot.

I would think the bottleneck is most likely the speed of which the source site is uploading

yea I think whats slowing it down is the writing to the memory stick.. because the indicator for the memory stick lights up more than the wifi indicator.

It's not the source that I am downloading from, because I get crazy speeds when I download from them using my PC

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
What's your wireless router. That could be the a huge bottleneck right there.

Oh I was wrong, the ram for the psp is 32MB not 4MB, the internet browser uses 4mb of ram.. I am pretty sure there is a memory stick speed test, I will check it out.

Also to those that have a psp, and want to know how to get free games, and a shitload of applications, and free psx games/sega games/snes, and nes, and gba games, and a whole lot more PM me.

I have a Motorola WR850G V2 Wireless Wifi 802.11 G Router + Extra Distance Range Antena... I checked it out on epinions.com it seems to be a great router.

PSP only operates on 802.11b so it'll be slow regardless of your ISP speed. It can't take advantage of the 802.11g so I doubt the router is the bottleneck. Do you have WEP or other encryption keys enabled? It might slow down the PSP.

yes I do have wep enabled, are you sure it slows down the internet?
