May be stupid question just wondering if anyone grunts and screams in gym to get that extra rep or to lift realy heavy weight ?

When i go to the gym i dont hear anyone else doing this realy at all.

I usualy can not do this because i know when kinda grunting to get that extra rep allow more air into your lungs and if i dont i usualy just end up not being able to lift weight aswell or sometimes hold my breath.

Not really... ocassionally something will come out unintentionally, but its not too loud. I dont like getting stared at in the gym. :D

well, when im off in the back corner with one of the hotties that hop on the ellipticals............

nah, i only make noise breathing out, i usually have my lips squeezed together and then blow out through a little crack in between them, and maybe a little groan. i crack up at the guys who sound like a freakin ape when they lift. or the little asians who come in wearing dockers and polo shirts or a-shirts that are WAY too big and grunt and squeal while curling 20 lb dumbbells.

No, I lift at home. I make some noise yes with breathing and when stress gets reduced from a heavy set, like an ahhh type noise. But why would someone make excessive noise?

i do a little

i do a bit but only wen its that last rep and my arms/legs just stop dead... and theres nothing else to do but every ounce of effort in there is..:yell:

People who need to grunt that loud need to be kicked in the nuts. Grunters are a real pet peeve of mine. Nothing like being an incosiderate fuck and distracting/breaking the concentration of other people with your loud noises. Don't get me wrong, a little grunting is ok, but people whose grunts echo across the gym need to be taken out back and shot.

hahaha:laugh: u should jsut run up lookin suprised and say 'ARE YOU OK!?, cuz ur screaming like a girl!?'

I grunt now and then, either before a lift for psyching up, or in the middle of a hellacious rep that doesn't want to complete. Either way I am not loud about it really.

I used to workout every now and then with JJ Marsh since he lived next door to me. He was a big grunter when doing squats. One time this old fat guy came over and said that it was disturbing him when he grunted. Rather funny to see this jackass say that to someone as big as JJ. JJ told him that this was Golds gym and 24hr fitness was across the street if he had a problem with people lifting weight. I almost fell over laughing. This was right before JJ competed in the Arnold classic as a master.

My gym is at my house, so I can burp, fart, scream, groan, and yell, pretty much all I want. Since I workout on my own, I obviously don't have the luxury of a spotter. So, after maxing out on a set, I'll rest about 5 seconds and throw in 2-3 more reps, then rest 5 seconds and throw in another 1-2-3 reps. Maybe not quite as afective as using a spotter, but it's better than just maxing out and resting 60 seconds before the next set.

I let out a grunt or moan now and then... nothing to offend anyone. I have, however, inadvertantly cut some serious cheese doing squats and bent over rows.
:fart:

nope, even when i go heavy i don't waste my breath, it's easier to blow the air out slowly rather than screaming.

Who hasn't..? It always irritates the sh!t out of me when I gotta push a rep, and there is a fart building up inside. I just set the weights down, push the fart out, and start over..!

haha i only fart sometimes when im on my bulk, that usualy doing situps tho.
I dont grunt much unless i realy maxx out, but most i do is grunt on last 3 reps of max out.

If you grunt and scream too much you will look like Bruce Lee bodybuiler haha

I grunt a little but not so loud that it annoys people.... :lifter: Well....I hope I don't annoy anyone.

I'm teh same as mudge, a little low grunting sometimes before a set or during a crazy set, but not all the time. I would think people would get freaked out by my look when getting ready for a set rather then my noises. I space out and get an evil lookin face sometimes when I go real heavy then just jump into my set. But either way i don't make any noises to be heard across the gym or anything.

Jeeper-LMAO

When I???m maxing out on my lifts I always give out a little yell before the lift, for me is a must it???s what gets me on my zone, it???s just me and the weights 1 on 1 after that. And if I complete the lift you don???t want to be around me or your eardrums will burst. Don???t care who likes it and who doesn???t really, they can find another gym or cover their ears or something.
