Just like many of you I have spent many years trying to get lean, sometimes I was succesful, but most of the time the high protein cycling carb diet was to difficult to maintain. So about (3) months ago I tried this flexitarian diet, mostly it's high fiber with lots of veggies, some fruit, and a little meat. I basically went against the grain, eliminating meat as the main meal portion. The results are staggering, at age 37 and 6'0 I have lost 18 pounds, down to 192, all the while maintaing muscle mass. My body fat according to the calipers is 11-12% from 17-18% and I have so much freaking energy it's unbelievable. I still eat lean meat, and the ocassional burger but the portion size is small, like half a chicken breast.
I have traveled quite a bit overseas and I can tell you that in the U.S. our chickens are so loaded with horomones that they are nearly twice as big as other countries. I would order a chix breast and the thing was so thin, I had to order (2) meals to get full. So I thought maybe that's why I am so dam fat, I am all loaded up with all these chemicals and who knows what. Everyone's metabolism is different if the carb cycling thing isn't working and you're a little heavy looking to get lean you might want to try this. It's worked for me...
I attached an article for those intersested, love to hear your thoughts
