No matter what time you finish working out it is always a good idea to have protein and some high glycemic carbs when you're done...yes, even if it's before bed. A shake with 30-60 grams of protein and 60-120 grams of carbs is just right.
Bars are not a bad substitute for a meal 1 or 2 times per day, but food and MRP's are better. Most of the high protein/medium carb bars are good...Labrada, MetRx, Muscle Tech, Biochem, Worldwide, Nature's Best, etc....
