i've been doing my cardio on an empty stomach about 3 times a week for about 3-4 weeks now... i thought this would just shred body fat but after 4 weeks of torture, i feel like i'm just wasting my time... i felt like i achieved better results last year doing 20-30 mins of traditional cardio after training...

any thoughts on this?

are you doing it 1st thing in the morning when u get up?

i'm not a fan of cardio to lose bodyfat. check out the 2 threads below.

also, as far as personal experience goes i can tell you that i competed once and was doing cardio twice a day to prepare for the show. (once early morning on empty stomach and once after the gym). it did a great job of eating up my lean muscle.

i've been bad with my diet lately but when i do follow it i'm able to get as lean or leaner than i did with twice daily cardio without losing the muscle.

(and i HATE doing cardio!)

vanity,

i wake up at about 7 AM but don't start my cardio until 8... would that make a difference?

nikegurl i'll read through those threads in a sec

i'm not one much for cardio either... i mean, i feel AWESOME afterwards but i don't enjoy the process... i find it really boring and tiring... some people, mainly women i find, go to the gym strictly to do cardio... that would suck!

forgot to say it before - congrats on your weight loss! your pictures show a huge improvement! looking good :thumb:

CAloires in vs calories burned people !! but there comes a point where cardio is a must to be fully conditoined and stage ready. My suggestoin bite the bullet and do it gradually and keep caloires higher. lower caloires and lack of caloires = flat phyiques

han may be right - i've yet to figure out exactly what works best for me. i do know that i did more harm than good with all the cardio i did before my 1 show. i was really stringy and actally looked better after a week of pigging out! i also know i got very lean without any cardio - but not "step on stage lean"

in my case i know i definitely did too much cardio for too many weeks out.

i'm sure to get contest lean again i'd have to use some cardio but i'd be careful not to start to early or do too much.

gradual adjustments are usually the best way to go whether it be to cardio or diet. one day i hope to actually figure out what is best for me. for now i'm still experimenting and learning as i go.
